:D Today I got my WIN 2K and I have a question:

I use 2 physical drives SAMSUNG Spinpoint SP80 in SATA RAID 0.

And I divided it under XP into 2 partions, drive C & D.

OS is installed on C but my saviour (made with PowerQuest Drive Image) is on D.

Is it possible to format only C and then to install 2K there or do I have to delete the partitions and to format all before I install 2K ?

I think one of You is more familiar with those things than me. THX in advance !!!

You can choose which partition you want format. If you choose C: then this partition will be formatted, not D: :)

But for surety it's better to make backup on CDs/DVDs

:D THX mate - I know I can format only C. But what I need to know is if a new installed WIN 2K on drive C will recognise the partitions cause they're built by WIN XP.

If so I could isnstall 2K on C and if somthing goes wrong I can backup from D to have XP back again.

Anyone with an idea? THX !

Ah, that so. Hm, I think it depend on partition system, for example, FAT32, NTFS. Both of them XP and 2K know, it should be ok :)

:D THX mate - drive C is NTFS and D is FAT32 so it should work I hope.

:D Good to hear - so I can keep my saviour on drive D in case of backing up XP again.

:( UPDATE:

that 2K really sux - tried 3 times with 2 different driver disks but no go.

The setup starts fine (huh what a long time to do it from 4 disks ) pressed F6 and then I put in the driver disk for SATA & RAID and setup confirms that it will be supplied.

But after going on and at the end of disk 3 I always get this message:

INSTALLATION FAILED - CANNOT FIND THE FILE "NVRAID.SYS"

But it is on the driver disk - now I really don't know what to do.

Does anyone have any idea?

Maybe this disc is a little destroyed? Try to download new drivers and copy to new discs

:D I tried two different disks - each with the SATA & RAID drivers.

So I wonder if 2K has a general problem with RAID 0.........

For me it doesn't matter the W2K's installation, only disc. Maybe both of you discs
are destroyed? Maybe this version is too old and downloading the newest driver
versions should help?

:( I get mad - treid again but still no go !

Downloaded the Nvidia RAID drivers from DFI page - created the WIN self extracting bla bla bla disk.

Pressed F6 during intallation and after I got the message I threw in the disk.

It showed me 2 reqiured drivers, Nvidia storage contoller & Nvidia RAID controller.

Installation went on fine till the message "File NVRAID.SYS can not be found".

Installation cancelled.

What I don't understand is the same sequence of installation worked for me with XP.

Is there maybe a problem with RAID 0 what I'm running and 2K ???
