From my stateroom when I got married on a cruise boat in January. :)

I think that's a shot of downtown Miami from the port although I'm not sure since I'm not from around there.

MaxxxRacer
06-30-2005, 08:05 AM
thanks for the images!

intersetingly enough the chromatic aberations your camera creates are blue in color which is a change from the normal purple. what im refering to is the blue halo around the bright lights. its an error that happens with digicams when dark (black) and bright white are butted up to one another.

Colin
06-30-2005, 08:47 AM
Oh do you think there's a problem wtih my camera then? I'm using a Canon S500 and I find that hte picture quality both at night and day are quite good. :)

MaxxxRacer
06-30-2005, 09:05 AM
no... its just "different." and that fringing issue is present in all digi cams so dont really worry about it.

Could have been a good shot, But I left the flash on and had it set on Macro. :nono:

Then again, Considering it was taken out of a moving vehicle with a semi-drunk driver.. Not too bad.. :woot:

Well, I tend to get alot of pictures like those one's. I've got a few insane looking sunset pictures.
Its great living in an area with BIG sod-farms around. Just lay down on the field and get a good shot. I just wish my new camera had a setting for pro-longed exposure. :(

transam, very cool shot, but I think I would have done it a bit differently. A long exposure of that with a time delayed flash which goes off at the beging and middle of the shot would have been VERY cool.

but in any case, very cool.

just wondering here, but from the looks of it he didnt land that one? how did it end up?

yeah, I have a minolta dimage X50. I wanted something compact I could go skating with or bring to concerts. This is a shot of me doing an ollie up the front stairs at Union Square in NY. I landed the ollie just fine. We set this launch up and my frined tino managed to ollie over a mini cooper a few weeks later. I lost the image due to HD corruption. That was quite the ollie!

cool shots maxx! Kinda reminds me of the album cover to don caballero's "what burns never returns" the street light halo effects are the raddest! I have a sequence shot mode on this cam, so it's very good for action shots especially when your shutter isn't firing as fast as you would like it to. I will try the time delayed shots in tonight at the fireworks show.

Hey Agent-JCDenton.

Why would you totally destroy a cool sig by putting you name over it?

People will steal it regardless of what you do. It's about a 20min procedure to remove your text from that image and that's tops.

I'm not trying to be a jackass here, but just a thought, but why not embed a watermark that can be pulled out later if your image is discovered elsewhere online.

That's what I do anyway.

nice reflex night shoot, but 18-55 canon lens kit is a bit poor.

both shots taken on the drive back from greece this october. taken somewhere
on an italian highway between bologna and milano... hellish rain at the time with
huge parking lots next to the highway having some 2-4 inches of standing water
and lotsa accidents on the way...
i just love these kind of shots

the 2nd shot shows us passing a huge rest area with restaurants and gas
station with lotsa lights, etc etc

These were all from my hotel room in NYC over New Years (42nd floor!).

8 sec exposure, 80 ISO, HELD BY HAND--NO TABLE OR TRIPOD HERE!!! :woot:

To the left (and down a little):

Back to the right (and down a little):
http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/2607/nycnight32qz.jpg

Original sizes are 3860x2160 and too big for imageshack so you get 1280x720 images.

This was taken between 54th and 55th, looking uptown (GW bridge has the green lights, I think), from between 6th and 7th.

uhm yah, im gonna grab the camera they bought for me at work, its the canon rebel 350 and try some of them settings (and learn about it at the same time) and get some pics like this. the night time shots that look like night time renders... are frikken great. so i will find suitable subjects around the house somewhere.

:banana::banana::banana: i wish i had the camera back home in Ja then i would get you some truly beautiful night shots of the people, the streets, the nature

OCAU has a great Photography section......plenty of themes including night scenes

here is nice shot from user called Dinuc (admin)

YOU HAVE TO CLICK ON THAT QUOTED IMAGE TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE

Try shooting a bit earlier, about 20 minutes after sunset. You'll still get the lights but you'll also get more detail in the buildings etc.

Nice shots.

See how you still have the lights, but there's more to see in the sky and buildings.

Well, Its a crappy shot, Taken with a Motorola SLVR while driving, but I like how the sunset glows. It looks better as the wallpaper in my phone. heh.

Thought that I would add to the thread. This pic was taken with my camera phone from my bedroom window just as the mist was coming in and the sun going down. Not the best quality but not too bad.
