Hello. :)

I'm interested in purchasing a new RAM for my rig.

I'm a hardcore gamer, and love to OC. The combination of two leads me to the conclusion I should buy a UTT based RAM (As we all know, games benefit more from low latency RAM's). I'm interested in a 2x512Mb pack, and maybe another set later on. I've heard that the Mushkin Redline are the best UTT based RAM right now, but I have a few questions:

- On what type of UTT they're based on? BH/CH?
- What is best model? XP3500 or XP4000?
- What stepping I should look for? Newest week? Is Brainpower 808 PCB is still the best?
- How do they scale in 4x512mb configurations?
- If i'll get the really new and best sticks, is 280 @ 2-2-2 crazy? Is it a common result? What should I hope for if i'll get average sticks? And how much Voltage I need for this?

Thanks in advance.

- BH-UTT
- XP4000
- Doesn't quite matter I think, just buy a set. Brainpower 808 doens't make much profit with UTT.
- If you have a AMD San Diego/Venice on 2T, that depends on the CPU, I think you can do with some luck 4x 512MB 250MHz @ 2T or higher.
- Dont no that.

No, it is 100% certainly BH-UTT, high speeds with a Trc of 7 can only be BH-UTT, CH-UTT can't do that.

Beside's some posted a picture without the heatspreader here, and on the size of the chips you could see it was BH-UTT.

Mushkin says otherwise. I don't know what to beleave. Why would Mushkin lie to me saying it uses lower-end chips than it really does.

Hmm, never read that, when/where did they say that?

Hello Michael,
Glad to hear that you are doing your homework :). Anyway, to answer your questions the kind of IC's the xp4000 redline use are the Winbond UTT chips. They won't be hitting retailors anytime soon but you may find the 3200 or the 3500. This modules is spec to run at 250mhz, you can sometimes run it at 280mhz depending on your motherboard however we do not guarantee it above 250mhz. I hope this answers all your questions. Have a great day.
Thank You,
Christie J.
Mushkin Inc.

I guess it doesn't answer the queston of what type of IC's they are, but I am quite sure they are CH-5's.

P.S. That email is a few weeks old, hence the "not hitting retailers soon" part...

the Redline have the UTT/CH.....NOT BH, the Trfc wont' do anything lower than 14!

Thanks for the help.

Well, I'm starting to beilive myself that the Redline are CH based, considering the various posts I've read on this forum, saying that the UTT-CH are better than their fellow UTT-BH chips... That's why the RedLine's are so hot these days, I presume...
