SO i remember using clockgen on my nf3 and i could oc it by 100's of mhz within windows...

But now on the nf4 upping the htt by maybe 5mhz will crash the system, even if i set it to those exact same 5 more mhz in bios its perfectly stable...

Is there a problem with nf4 clockgen, is there a secret, or am i just SOL?

You have to increase by say 1-2 Mhz, then apply, then up by another 1-2 Mhz more, apply....

It seems that it freezes only with (not so) big increases. The same happens when decreasing the fsb, although you can decrease it by 5-7Mhz without freeezing.

i dont know what happened but recently this issue is gone. i can change it i.e. from 2800 to 1800 and back without problems now.

I'm still on version 1.02 and have no problems what so ever on my DFI NF4 board.

However, when I used an Asus A8N NF4 board I had exactly the symptoms you descibe.

NOt sure how or where, but a ClockGen 1.04 find its way on my PC  I'm not using it much, except as a quick calculator to see "working" frequency of HTT, DDR, CPU and PCI bus

how do utilities like these work? Do they make a permanent clockspeed change, or does it reset to what you had it in your bios before windows, then when windows and clockgen starts up, your changes once again become in effect?

yea, after you reboot it goes back to normal, which makes it good for testing to find you max oc.

Using version 1.03. No problems, but I usually increase about 5mhz at a time.

When my BIOS wouldn't OC for crap... I was using some ntune stuff. It did what you described (crashed unless tiny bumps). So i switched to clockgen specifically to fix this problem, and it worked excellent for me. I don't know about several hundred at once, since I was a bit reluctant to do it with the luck I was having. But certainly very large chunks at a time. It was one of the first NF4 boards, BIOS liked to set my tRCD to 7 as well, so I had to use both ntune and clockgen... heh... fun times.
