the awesomeness that is newegg has both these 512x2 kits for around the same price ~$135. which would be better for ultra-d/rev e, upgrade to 4400 toledo soon? thanx.

Well the chips are UTT on both. The difference is that Value is set to 3-4-4-8 by SPD, but Gold 2-3-3-8 with same voltages. Also OCZ promises that they would work on 2-2-2-8 3.2V. So if the difference in price is miserable go for Gold. Never the less they BOTh like high voltages (UTT-you know :) ) so there isn`t any doubt that Value will work on 2-2-2-8 and higher frequencies with some Vdimm. It`s just the waranty you get.

I believe it is BH-die UTT, although value vx is also rumored to be primarily bh-die now. If they're the same price (I thought the value vx was ~$100), I'd go with the gold.

The Value VX which is no longer called "Value VX" but just "Value" is around $100 while the Gold is close to $150. They both use UTT-BH modules. I dont think the original old BH-5 is still in production today is it? I dunno.

is the chance you are going to get only average sticks with the value worth the $37 price diff? or do a decent percentage of value do 240-250 with good timings?(voltage not an issue)

OCZ Gold PC3200, not the VX, is UTT BH-5
OCZ Value VX PC3200 is UTT CH-5, but as Jason said is turning to BH-5

Really its up to you... Price and the nick nacks like warrantee are what you should be looking at. Personally I would go with the Value VX.

For the Value VX though, make sure to get the one that has the model number
OCZ4001024WV3DC-K with the W after the 1024. This is the set that has the BH chips in it. Its $105 on newegg right now.
