Hey, guys, I'll make this simple. I'm going with 2GB of ram in my new rig (http://hyperpcz.sebszhost.com/buildtemplate.html), and I would like to know if I should get a 2 x 1024MB ram kit, or, two 1GB sticks of the same ram? Thanks.

Probably which ever is cheaper I would say.

a better question...when you purchase a matched set, regardless if it's 2x512 or 2x1024, are they sold as a "matched" set, or do they just pick up two sticks and stick it in the same package? I was told matched meant "matched"!?!

"Matched", ever since the first "Matched" kit was ever released (TwinX by Corsair), was always considered to be marketing bs.

If u check one of the threads here, someone bought 3 kits of Redline PC4000, and I think the fastest stick was paired with the slowest stick, or second slowest stick.

I would suggest you buy a matched pair, if only to be assured that you receive sticks with the same chips, and tested to be compatible together. I would think this would be even more important with 1gig sticks.

But I don't think that buying matched sets guarantee's that both will be good sticks, just tested together.

I would go with the kit, because they will most likely run at nearly the same speeds, and generally kits are cheaper.

That is a whole lot of crap you got there. Have fun! Welcome to XS.
