Whats the best aircooling combo out there to lower temps when overclocking as far as you can go on a 1800xp PALIMINO? An SLK-800 with a Tornado fan? Seems popular. Whaddyu think? All suggestions are appreciated and my 49C runnin cpu will thank you.

slk-800 with 92mm tornado - yes it does fit (tightly tho)

I choose a Swiftech MC462-B with a tornado fan.

Moved this thread to the proper forum. Yep, best combo would certainly be the SLK-800 & a Tornado :)

That's good, but the SLK-800 is a superior heatsink, and the Vantec fan pushes a few CFM of air more ;).

I also heard about the ASUS NF2 no having much space for the bigger HSF's. Any truth to that, and would a SLK-800 fit on my board? I got a $10 Volcano6 cu a week ago, and was kinda a pain to get on there. I know the volcano stinks, but was slightly better than the stock HSF.

Check out the Vantec AeroFlow, it'll save you about $20 over the slk-800 and is performing just about as well.

I'll look into that, heres the new rigged cooling setup:

SPQQKY,

Do you have a link to a comparison or anything? I've checked for the AeroFlow @ SVC & it is $3 more than the SLK-800 although it does come with the fan.....but if it performs on par w/ the SLK-800 it might be a good option :)

Edit: Nevermind :) Found it @ overclockers.com although they don't say its quite as good as the SLK-800...but of course they have a Tornado on the SLK-800. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the SLK-800 & AeroFlow w/ the TMD fan on both :D

Definately agree with the SLK800. I'm running it at the moment with a Smart Fan II.

Smart Fan II on max pushes 75cfm without the noise which you'll find from a Delta. Never had a tornado so I can't comment on them.

I have a question...

I'm getting a 2400+ @266 and an MSI nForce2 MB. I wanted a decent cooler and had the chance to pick up a Coolermaster HCC-001 (Heatpipe type) for 20 bucks....Just how well does this cooler perform anyway? If the fan doesn't push enough, I should be able to use an 80mm-60mm adapter with an 80mm Tornado...Any thoughts???

Oh yeah....Here's my current cooling setup (ftp://hollywood:s3ns0r@andromeda.xlii.com/public.html/Web%20pics/case/Case/three.JPG)....An SK6 with stock AMD 60mm fed by home-made cold air intake....Running my Palomino 2100+ @ 1.83Ghz @ 42c. :D

If you want to save a few bucks you could do what i have done with that heatsink. I put a 80mm case fan on it and it lowerd the temps a bit, you could get a nice 80mm fan like a tornado and put it on their. if it dosent work out you allready got the tornado, all you need to do now is buy an SLK800 or Swiftech MCX462-U.\
Just a thought.

Well from my point of view a the best aircooled system involves a 80mm to 120mm adapter.
My system currently uses a 80.16 cfm 80mm delta on my swiftech mcx462.That is about to change,I am getting a 130cfm 120mm delta and a 80mm to 120 mm adapter.
You can get delta 120mm by 120mm by 38 up tp around 190cfm in 12v.The more cfm the more noise though.
THe 120's are quiter per cfm produced than the 80's though.

I'd have to say that the hcc-001 is alright, but it's not in the same league as the SLK-800 or Aeroflow or other such high end heatsinks. There is not really any reason to get a 60mm heatsink any more, since they require louder fans to move less air ;).

Just installed my system yesterday.

XP1700+ JIUCB 0251
Asus A7N8X deluxe
AlphaPal 8045 + SF2 (at 75%)

CPU at 1925MHz is 35C under load (BIOS)

I think the SLK-800 will keep you happy.....Good luck :toast:
