Hej.

I have a great video in WMV, its a downhill challenge in Denmark.

Now, it has great commentary, which I would like to extract. Can this be done? A friend says he uses Adobe Premier for doing this with DVD files, any help?

Yeah, the program worked fine for MPGs, but it won't do WMV for me.

Any program worth mentioning which will convert the WMV into an AVI or MPG?

thanks!

Hmm, tried the virtual dubs with ASF support, though nothing helps.

Is there any prog that can rip commentary (audio) from WMV format?

I used Video to Audio Converter (http://www.mp3towav.org/Video-to-Audio-Converter/) few times with WMV. It works pretty good. Trial will allow you to convert only 30 files but it might be enough for what you need.

Juliette Virtual Dub does not support WMV format.
Old versions of Virtual Dub up to 1.3 if I remember well supported ASF format.
So follow bachus_anonym's instructions. :)

Well I am not sure maybe TMPEG (available at Doom9) support WMV format.
Anyway if I am wrong correct me.

Yoo might be able to use the M$ Windows Media Encoder freebie to convert your file to a format that you can extract the audio from.

As mentioned it's a free d/l from the M$ site.

I just downloaded the trial. Awesome program! I just converted the audio from a wmv of the Starbucks Double Shot Espresso commercial to a 192kbps mp3.

"Glen! Glen, Glen, Glen! Glen, Glen, Glen! Glen, Glen, Glen...
Glen's the man, going to work.
Got his tie, got ambition.
Middle management is right in his grasp,
it's a dream he will never let die....
Glen's the man of the hour, he's the king of his cube.
Burning the candle on both ends on his way to the top.
He knows one day he could just become.... supervisor!"
