What should I get AMD X2 4200+ or AMD San Diego 4000+ ? there's 100$ difference bitween these 2 CPUS
If I get the X2 I'll buy 120GB SATA II and Antec Lanboy
and if I'll get the SA I'll buy 200GB SATA II , Lian Li PC-61 and MX518
what do you guys say ?

It depends on how you use your computer. If you just going to be playing games then you probably won't see any advantage in the X2. But if you use your comp for AV editing or encoding, or any kind of multitasking then the X2 would get the nod.

i would go with the x2 myself, it will be better in the future for games that support it, while i saw a review linked to on this forum where the 4200+ pretty much matched a FX55 on most games (obviusly not overclocked)

I believe it was the 4400+ that matched the FX55 or maybe I saw a different review. I don't know but yeah definately the X2 because its future proof. But on the other hand if you get the SD you get the lian li. Hmmmm. Thas a tough one. :D

Sit back and watch the results from the X2. Then decide :D

Get 4400+, it matches the FX55 (difference is extremely marginal). Also, as time goes it will become better.

And get Stacker instead... :D

4400 means I have to get 10$ case and 80GB HDD :nono: :nono: :nono:
I prefer 4200 because the difference is 512 cache and 1MB cache that matters only when O/Cing
I'll try to get few more $$ for my pc

X2 is an absolute killer BUT ONLY in multithreaded applications. San Diego is not even close.

max programs that will run on my pc at the same time are
Game(HL2,CS,GTA,etc.) Winamp ICQ & Firefox
nothing more.....
do I need X2 for this ?
will I feel the difference bitween X2 and SD ?

In the last month I have had a FX55 claw, replaced with a 4000+ san diego and now have a X2 4400+ toledo coming. I would personally buy an X2, more future proof, great if you multitask not really muc disadvantage if you don't.

the disadvantage if you don't multitask is the higher cost for the same performance!

That said, as more applications become multithreaded, having X2 will pay off more and more.

I think one of the most important factors in deciding what chip to get is how long you'll be using if. If this is a long-term chip then get X2. Plan on upgrading sooner than later get SD.

Err- the cache matters when you have two cores ripping the crap out of a single memory bus..
