My current redline set can do 255. So 4x512 255 2T or 2x1gb Crucial Ballistix 1T?

EDIT: damn, the first item supposed to be 4x512 Redline 2T

ballistix shoudl run at X-2-2-X 1T, which is really more then enough to make up for the cas latency of 2 or 1.5

I agree that some 2X1GB Ballistix should do 2.5-2-2-x DDR500 at around 2.9-3.1V. So my vote goes to ballistix.

what the diff. between the regular Ballistix (yellow spreaders) and Ballistix Tracer beside the leds (2GB kits)?
Which one is better?
Is it possible that leds on Ballistix Tracer will suck volts necessary for OC and stability  ?

LED's are very low power and shouldnt effect it(if at ALL) much as long as the mobo isnt topped out, which I doubt any are.

shouldnt be a problem at all ;)

Has anyone seen any results for 2x1GB Ballistix? Everything I've been able to turn up is for the 512MB sticks, and for every other line of RAM I've investigated, higher density chips means looser timings and lower OC's.

I've heard that they have some sort of a separate chip that controls those leds and more voltage over the stock is not recommended - it might burn...
Is that true about it?
My guess is: more things like that chip or something = more chances that ram goes bad, burns or something else bad.

The only one so far I've seen:

hmm.. if its a mosfet-like chip, it would definatly need more cooling, but a lot of LED's run 2.7-2.8v as it is, so 3.3v would definatly be a bad thing. most LED's use just a little resistor and ~2.8v. 3.3v would probably not be good, but it all depends on how its controlled I guess. Theres a crucial tech over ar DFI-street, maybe send him a PM about it, since I doubt, but you never know, you'll get any info from their tech support.

Hmmm, that person has only two posts on this forum, and the thread on FutureMark is already gone. Given the high OC, I'm a little supsicious. Someone PMed me on another forum recently to tell me about his "secret" source for Crucial Ballistix. I'm fairly sure he was the source, and he was just advertising. This might be the same person.

Edit: If the results are legit, he got much beter sticks than in post 6 of the thread below -- 3-3-3-5 at 250mhz and 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz.

I'm interested in those 1GB crucial memory too. If anyone here takes the gamble, please we will like to see how well they overclock.
