Ok I have a sweet AMD XP Mobile 2600+ that runs 2650 all day and i can get to boot into windows and prime for awhile at 2750 on some mild water cooling. I have some Buffalo CH-5 right now that has been slowly losing its overclock of 230MHz 2-3-2-11 down to 219MHz 2.5-3-3-11. My Shuttle AN35 Ultra will only do 2.7v but with a volt mod I have it at 3.31.

My question is whats the best bang for the buck. I want 2x512 for 1GB. Either Mushkin Redline, OCZ (whichever is equivelant...I can't remember if it is gold or platinum), or Crucial Ballistix. I am not going for record breaking here just want best bang for my buck I guess. Suggestions?

The OCZ Value VX is cheap as chips! Only $169 down here.
Probably should go for that if you're on a budget. Should make 240fsb 2-2-2-5 without too much trouble.

You guys don't think it would be a good idea to go with 3500 or 4000? This board can do 250+.

I was thinking Muskin Redline like this (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820146390)

OCZ Gold like this (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820227205)

Ballistix like this (http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.Asp?IMODULE=BL6464Z505)

by the way BH-5 doesn't like this board I have tried many different sticks...supposedly it was fixed with a bios revision but I don't want to bother with it again.

Mushkin Redline XP4000 all the way....very good ram and back by excellent customer support, just be careful with these UTT and don't get crazy on the vdimm for extended period of time ;)

Oh I thought you meant like... cheaper stuff
Go with the OCZ VX PC4000 or Mushkin Redline PC4000 then
VX is alittle cheaper, Redline OC's alittle better
Since your board tops out at most likely 260 tops, I'd do one of those too, as the ballistix runs alittle higher speeds, not much, and then you have to loosen the timings too

Your call :)

I am seeing people say that with the OCZ VX you have to burn it in...I can't just throw 3.3v at it and expect it to work? And hasn't the idea of 'burn in' been invalidated?

Well now I have found out from some very experienced AN35 Ultra people that those chips aren't the best for this board and that I should find some TCCD ram instead.
