My modded up tube, hope it works a bit better than last time

Seal it air tight with the foam sandwhiched between the motherboard and plywood. Bolts run from plywood through mobo to dry ice tube instead of using the stock mounting plate. Do you guys think this mounting method will be more effective than the stock back plate?

Looks good. I use one of the metal baseplates in the back for mine. I rem ya said ya had a bunch of problems b4. Are you sure your making good contact w/ the cpu? I see the IHS is off so I thought you need a tube base raised in the center to meet the core. I see you're in NJ also if this one don't work right I have a tube that I have gotten great results on maybe we can figure away to get it to you and I'll let ya borrow it for a weekend that is unless I cut it up and make a gpu container out of it which is another possibility. :)

That would be nice :) Where in NJ are you?

Last time I used an IHS from my newcastle because I couldn't get pressure on bare core. I think its because I didn't drill mounting holes in the base perfectly straight. Now with the behind the plywood bolts, I can bend them side to side a bit so I hope I can get contact now with bare core. I'll find out as soon as I lap the base but thats kind of hard to do when the sand paper is downstairs and your parents think you are studying :stick:

It looks pretty good, but there is only one real way to check, and thats trial and error. What is it made out of? Aluminum?

The tube? Copper...

Well assuming the base isn't too wide, so it doesn't rest on the socket > bad contact (problem caused by low height of CPUs with no IHS), it should do ok.

GL w/ dem OC's ;)

READY FOR OFF BLAST!

I have no CD drive, you can't see much, I have a custom plywood mobo mount, and theres an over priced digital therometer in the picture. I look so professional now

thanks twilius, it should work out ok this time I hope. I used an IHS again because base is bent and mounting is crooked so I can't get pressure on bare core.

Its all about the overpriced digy thermometers!
I like that foam mounting idea on the back of the board, saw kingpin do it to... and i have to admit I'm intrigued!

GOOD NEWS:
board mounting works great, back of board bone dry after 3 hours benching and the hold down gave me more pressure and better contact than ever! Modded tube held -62C running 3d at 3060mhz

BAD NEWS:
at -62C the chip will not go higher than 340 HTT no matter what multi and since 9x multi is max, my max clock is 3060mhz :(

can u run a divider, maybe that will help get clocks higher. BTW, nice clocks so far. Is that crunching D2OL?

No, I'm selling my mobo and CPU and getting some good hardware. D2OL on dry ice... You don't do that. I already had ram running way below max. I tried everything.

Nice, but do u really need 1.9v for 3060? 1.7 or 1.8 would probably be better. If you could get the 10x multi to work, then you would probably shave 2 sec of your pi.

its 1.85V... I ran it on water so I didnt back down. No reason. Its a 3000+ DTR, 9x multi max. I'm going 939.
