I've got a 5.1 setup and a pair of headphones running off an Audigy 2. For some reason, my system defaults to the 5.1 setting, but I (OK, actually my wife) would prefer it otherwise. Problem is, I can't change the goddamn setting. That is, I change it, and then on reboot it still defaults to 5.1 output. Doesn't matter whether I change it with Creative's craptacular applet or from the control panel.
Driving me crazy, because I know this is dead simple and I'm just missing something stupid....
