Hi,

i was thinking about getting some new RAM for my setup.
ATM i use 2x256 Corsair XMS3500 V1.1 ( BH-5  ) and the OCZ Booster.
My daily CPU clock (Winchy 3500+) is 315x8 and i would like to run the memories at the almighty frequency of 315mhz with decent timings :banana3:, but benchmarks' results show that tight timmings are as important as high frequency :stick:
I've been looking for different brands and so and that, and found the OCZ PC4800 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_el_ddr_pc_4800_dual_channel_platinum) quite interesting
Although X-bit labs ay: "The maximum frequency we managed to make our memory modules work at was 322MHz with the timings set to 3-5-5-10"

I'm pretty confused about this...

Should i get 1Gb of high-speed ram or keep on going with my 512Mb of BH-5?

Thank you ;)

I think you would be happy with the TCCD, even at 280x9 with 2.5-3-3-6 you should be able to out perform you BH-5 since its only running at 220mhz ? with divider. If your lucky you should be able to do 315x8 with 2.5-4-3-6 provided your winnie has a good memory controler and the sticks are up to it. Both sets of G.Skill I have will do over 315mhz.

What mb are you using, TCCD needs some real tweaking to get it to 312mhz and some mbs lack the bios options to do that. 280mhz should be pretty easy though.

For benching i can use 260 2-2-2-5 and set the fsb to 325Mhz, which gives me 2600Mhz using the 8x multi.
I have a MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum ^^

With TCCD, u could run your mem 1:1 with your CPU, which is usually better. I think some or most of the tccd will do 310 or so with 2.5-3-3-x, so that should be better. Plus, u wont need that much voltage for tccd, which is safer when running 24/7.

My doubt is about benchmarks, 2x256 BH-5 2-2-2-5 timings @ 260Mhz VS TCCD X-X-X3-X @ 325 :stick:

Depends on the benchmark,

Bh5 at 260 tight timings is probably quicker in 2001.

I doubt the TCCD will be "much" fatster than the Bh5.

That said in REAL application having more than 512mb is a big gain.
DOOM3 is awfull on my system with 512mb, but is loads better with 768mb (3x256mb) even though I have to drop to 2T cmd to run 3 sticks.

What about SuperPi?
