Helow :)

I just begin to think how my container should be , and i saw many projects i came up with this idea

http://img90.echo.cx/img90/1065/container1oh.jpg

Those black doots are drilled , to diferent sizes bigger in the middle and less in the more small part about 10mm the bigest part.

Sorry for the drawing , paint rocks :D

i thought to build a circular base and in the base put thin little cooper things for better dissipation area , and them drill then .
What do you think about this ?
Is a bad design ?

Monday i will have the base and the tube i was thinking to use a 40 cm tube , about 2 mm wall , is it good ?

Cumps for all and thanks for all the answers

Edit =

The size of the wall is very important ? or not thar really ?

i think the best containers is a container that has plenty off surface and enough mass.
if you have to mutch mass your temps will fluctuate like charlie said, the same if you have to less mass.

about the wall, nah its not that inportant. it increases your mass but it won't influence your temps that hard.

he said a base of 1cm seems best, now because not everyone can get the material to make the best containers, drill holes into the base and some square copper onto the base is best then.

what you also can do is put your base full of copper nails(first drill the holse offcourse), i did it for maddog his container and i calculated what kind of extra surface it gets.

the nail is 2 cm long and 3mm wide.
so if you do 2*pi*radius= 2*3.14*0.0015 m = 0.0094 *length= 0.0094*0.02= 0.0001 of 1cm²
multiply with 50 is 50cm².

if you just drill 50 holes its around 1/4 of surface areo because you cant drill too deep.
and now you increase mass some and with holes you descrease:)

am i correct?

''if you have to mutch mass your temps will fluctuate like charlie said, the same if you have to less mass.''

if u have too much mass i think that temp won't fluctuate, you will have more stable temps, plz explain why you tell that;)

yeah, I've tried "up to" 5/8 with DI and LN2, even 5/8" is a bit too thick, meaning the cpu puts heat more easily into the copper than the ln2 5/8" away from the IHS can rapidly remove.....
SOOO....
It takes forever for the base to cool AND when it does cool, a slight load will make it jump around...
With a 1/2" base, it's kinda a balance, as the cool sinks down, the heat is pulled up and it just kind of "chills".... Now, 1/4 is way too thin, you get MAD fluctuations in temp... 3/8 is better, but I think 7/16-1/2" is BEST :D

here it is :)

That looks really nice! How long is that pipe and whats the squares width?

I think youll need to fill that container only once with di and then you can run benchmarks 24/7 :D

make sure you braze the joint not soft solder it. Thermal expansion could cause it to crack if soft soldered ad you may have a leak.

Nice container, I hope those joints are made by high silver content brazing rods :)

They where brazed with 40% silver rods , its good ?

Very good for me, this brazing rod melts and catchs metal nicely and it's very stable
