Hi there,

My DragonOrb from themaltake is full of dust and realy crappy at the moment, Thunderbird 1.4 (not overclocked) running 50-52 IDLE jesus §§§§ing christ.

I need to cleen it but the screw are all eat up.

my friend bought a new AMD XP 2200+ retail (with retail heatsink)
My question is : Can i use that heatsink on my 1.4 Thunderbird? without problem (aluminium AMD retail heatsink..)

Thanks alot

Yes you can, with those oem heatsinks though, check the bottom and make sure it isn't anodized. If it is, lap (sand) it. Use some wet/dry 800 grit or better after you rough it up a little with like 200 grit, and then make sure you use a good silver bearing thermal compound between the cpu and the hsf (only using a small thin coating). Don't use none of those thermal pads, they're not very good at transfering the heat.:)

a friend of mine bought my 1.4GHz Tbird and he wanted me to give him the heatsink that came with my xp1800 Tbred. the heatsink was a pretty crappy one and i didn't think it would work, but it did. he even used the TIM that was attached to it.
