My brother just shorted some powerconnector pins on my brand new P4P800SE, making small sparks and all...

Will this kill the board?

It seems to be able to turn on, fans spinning, but it doesnt post. I cant turn it off either. When I turn it off via the PSU and back on, I can turn it on either :(

This is damned.

Any suggestions?

When power is on, fans spin up if I connect a case fan!

Doesnt post though.

i see, you are running the dothan-adapter on this board. have you flashed the bios with a normal p4/celeron to the newest version, which supports the adapter? if not, it wont start.

btw. p4-connector plugged in?

The manual (http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4p800-se/e1886_p4p800_se.pdf) doesn't show any POST lights, just the LED for power status.

No post lights.

Tried both P4 connectors from my PowerStream.

The board starts (eg. the fans spin up) totally randomly. Even when i dont touch anything.

The problems occur with an old 2.4 NW chip, exactly to flash, but I didnt get so far...

Hmmm. Think I'll RMA it.

Thanks for your suggestions guys :)
