My computer was recently fried by lightning, freakin nature, and the first part i need is a PSU. I found some on newegg but my budget is tight. Tell me what you think:

The last three are my favorite. That MGE looks sweet. I have a maximum budget of $70-75. Some of those make me nervous though...

EDIT: It also needs to be compatible with MSI K8N Neo Ultra, in other words, PCI express. My PC has two hard drives, cd drives, memory sticks, has watercooling, two fans, and a X800XL PCI express(most likely to be bought) or possibly MSI 6800(most likely that was fried)

-Plz help
-Thx in advance :)

Well its about time I used the guide for some use...

Check out the "What to Buy Guide" here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61554 for more hardware recommendations. But for your price range, this should be a good buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817171001 .

Oh and btw, :welcome: Welcome to XtremeSystems :welcome:

Thx, i dont think i've ever gotten a welcome on a forum b4 *tears*. I think i looked at that, and a bunch of other articles and threads. I guess I'll look at it again. I do have another question or two. I've heard great things of the Tagan 480W, and then I hear bad things about it; so ? Also, I've heard of "Hiper" PSU's what is that company called in the USA. I think it starts with a T... Anyways their "Hiper Type R 'Blue Label' Modular 580W" PSU seems very nice. Does anyone know about that PSU, its price or where to buy online for the USA?

Top Tier Brands you can trust when buying a PSU:

OCZ
PCP&C
Fortron
Enermax
Antec

All others are iffy, unless they offer a lot of features for a good price. Rule of Thumb when buying non-first-tier-brand psu: NEVER trust wattage spec ;) Look at the Amps on the rails and the features, and, ofcourse, the reviews both by using google and reviews given by owners at the egg. I just recommended the cooler master because the brand isn't bad, the features (dual rails) are amazing.

Yea i know u guys are gonna say OCZ Powerstream, etc. Those are 70+ and i cant afford those. Are any of those PSU's in the PSU thread PCI express compatible, in addition to having enough wattage? My PC needs at least 450v.

Hmmm, thats a litttle expensive. That PSU Thread said not to get the Ultra-X PSUs. Even this one?!? http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=5661215#description

That PSU is only $79. How is that too expensive? You said max $75, but I think you can spend an extra $4. Also that PSU is not recommended at all. All Ultra PSU's are now considered junk.

These are the recommended PSU brands taken from Daves excellent PSU guide @ eocf.

PC Power & Cooling (PC P&C): 1% Regulation, Adjustable Rails & 5yr warranty.
OCZ PowerStreams: 1% - 2% Regulation, Adjustable Rails & 5yr warranty.

Antec (except Smart Power), I-Star & Zippy/EMACS: Tight Regulation & 3yr warranty.

Hiper Silent Type R, OCZ ModStreams, Seasonic: 3yr warranty.

Akasa, Antec (Smart Power), Cooler Master, Enermax, Enlight, Fortron,
Sparkle, Tagan, TTGI (Super-Flower & Link Depot) & Vantec:
Known Good Quality often at Low Prices.

Forton and/or sparkle PSU's are very nice when you are on a budget. They are very reliable little power suppplies.
