View Full Version : Fair price for BH5

I got an offer for BH5 ram for about 160-170 USD http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6768820738&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

He said he's not 100% sure it's BH-5 how can he check for me? Won't it say BH5 somewhere on the actual modules themselves or what should I look for?

Nobody steal my auction :stick: Thanks lol,

Frank

Where can I buy it new? I thought it was sold out mostly everywhere. I know about the UTT, but it needs like ~3.5v to get the maximum out of it. I'm looking to hit at least 250fsb, whats the average on ~3.2/3.3v for BH-5 or should I just go out and get some GeIL PC4400 :P.

You can tell the guy to read the Chips (hey have to have 2 metal dots per chip on them) and either check the model number; if they end with AA4T, its UTT-CH and if they end with 1A4T its UTT-BH, or AADT which is Powerchip dunno, very bad one.. OR if its Old BH5, then it should be impressed on every chip. (Twinmos blablabla BH5)

Good Luck.

It's PC3500 actually, but yeah, Komplett have Twinmos BH-5 for a good price. Geil Ultra X at overclockers is pretty well priced at £140-odd too.

Anyone seen any BH-5 or UTT (Cheap ONES!) in Germany? There is no Komplett.de anymore :(

its 2 small dimples and a dimple to indicate pin1. not a metal dot.

I'm looking for somewhere in US. I was looking at the OCZ PC3200 EL Gold Rev 2 2-2-2-5 timings. I heard of people hitting 250 @ 2.5-3-3-7 or something to that effect. Any words on that. I just want something thats decently priced and should get a good overclock. Anything that can get decently aggresive timings @ 250mhz and I'll be happy.

EDIT:

I just found out 50B is 2.5ns 3200, and I saw a review the average seemed to be about 225mhz @ 2.5/3/3/8 or something like that but they couldnt get any higher and the ram didnt like looser or tighter timings. Oh well, looks like I'll be retracting my bid. But does anyone still think that OCz is any good? I'm not in a huge pricerange so whatever's really the best right now I'll buy 1gb Dual Channel kit of it.

Googled That TMD part number and coming up with some relation to winbond, but I'll research it more

Another question, Single Sided or Double?

EmoAddict15
05-15-2005, 04:44 PM
I'm sure its double sided because its 512x2. Anyways, this is the ram I was looking at getting (it was plat rev 2 not gold doh) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146890

ocz vx 4000 should do 250+ 2-2-2-5(lots of volts though)

EmoAddict15
05-15-2005, 05:05 PM
What's your def of "lots of volts". I have an AS8(well have one coming my way, 3rd one lol) and I ruined 2 already due to failed mods so obviously small soldering isn't a skill of mine, the board's max voltage is 3.2v and i think its actually running at 3.25 or 3.31 or something like that in Abit EQ if I'm not mistaken (which I probably am).

Guaranteed BH-5? And the timings are 2-2-2-8, not 2-2-2-5 ?

Yes they are BH-5. Tras will do 5 just fine.

Should I go the extra mile and get these instead, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227204, what's the difference and are they BH-5 or TCCD?

CTKP
05-16-2005, 05:02 AM
They're CH dies. The need about 3.2v to obtain 2-2-2 latencies. You're better off with the BH, these are binned, as they have a 3200 and 4000 model.

My budget atm is about <= $200.00 USD so I guess this seems the best bet. So with 3.2 volts on avg what should I be able to get, I'm aiming to get like 275/290 FSB would that be possible at a semi-decent timing with BH-5?

Aleman
05-16-2005, 05:16 AM
Are these ALSO Value VX? (denote that the numberpart doesnt contain the "W")

Wouldn't 2.5ns make it PC6400?

I think the clue to its ns is in the 50B

EmoAddict15

Oh well, I think I'm gonna gamble a bit on the OCZ 1GB Value PC3200 that has like 2.5-3-3-7 timings thats about $105 or so on newegg. Apparently it's just untested Gold BH-5, I guess if it doesn't work out the way I want it to after a week I can just trade it in for an extra 50 bucks and get the tested gold version :P. Should I mod my 3v PSU Rail to pump more volts into it? Adjust the 3V Rail will raise the RAM voltage right?

I'm a bit noobish but hopefully someday I'll be answering these questions for other people :-) God i love this community lol.

I just bought 2 x 512 of twinmoss marked AA4T which is winbond CH and they only require 3.1 volts for 240 at 11,2,2,2 on my NF7-S. Can't test any higher as the board craps out.

I got it from here:

Well I'm gonna just take a chance on this Value BH-5 UTT and see how it performs, if it's not too good I can always exchange it hopefully. Wish me luck

Dates on those DIMMs reveal they are built on week 16 of 2005. They are BH-UTT, not orig BH-5.
xxxxxxxxxxx50B is the way TwinMos marks BH-UTT (new BH-5 production) (50D is CH-UTT).

I might just get me these badboys:

$20.00 cheaper then the OCz and it's the same thing. (y)

What made you pick those TwinMos? Have you been referencing this:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=50010

or this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59957

I actually just ordered the OCZ EL Gold (1024ELDCGE-K) from Monarch for 139. It was between that or OCZ Value (VX).

BUT I just went back there to link you and they're 159 now!

btw, the Plat Rev 2's are TCC5 (I have them ;) ) and not BH-5/UTT. I could get 260 @ 2-3-3-6 Memtest stable, but TCCx is for 300Mhz FSB. If you want 260, some UTT/BH-5 can do it at 2-2-2-6. Xtreme Bandwidth has some good threads on value RAM.

Hmm, a bit unrelated, how does UTT-BH5 do compared to the old Winbond BH-5 chips?

EmoAddict15
05-27-2005, 04:14 AM
I'm not planning on hitting 300fsb just yet, I haven't modded my motherboard yet to be more stable at 300fsb speeds and I'm low on cash and this is UTT BH-5 and so is the ocz value I believe, so I figured save 20 bucks and get the twinmos, if it's crappy I can just send it back or resell it, not a huge deal. Now I gotta get a PSU, my Antec went bad (everything keeps going on me lol) so hopefully I should FINALLY be back up and running and not having to msg from the p2 350 machine or the school pc's.

@masterofpuppets: I think's it's about the same I've heard of people hitting 250 2-2-2-5 @ 3.3-3.5 volt range. I could be wrong though.
