Hi:
I am thinking at upgrading my PSU. It is a crappy LC Power 550W with Passive PFC (50 € :D :D ) and I think that it is limiting my OC...
My rig is compossed of:

--> 3200+ Winnie,
--> DFI NF4 Ultra D,
--> 2x512 Twinmos SP,
--> Leadtek 6600GT PCIe
--> 2x120 Seagate SATA,
--> LiteOn CD-RW,
--> NEC DVD-RW,
--> 2x Vantec Tornado 92mm,
--> MCP650,
--> Some neon lights :D :D
all of this attached to the LC Power 550w... :rolleyes:

I have some PSU´s in mind such as OCZ PS 520W, some Enermax Noisetaker, SilentX iExtrema 600W.... but I have looked at a Thermaltake PSU, the PurePower 680W.
I always have been against Thermaltake products without any objective reason, but this PSU seems to be a good product. It features lots of amps:

--> 38A at +12v in three independent lines (15 + 15 + 8)
--> 50A at +5v
--> 28A at 3.3v

It has Active PFC, of course, a lot of connectors, and a thing that is very important for me, it is very quiet when it isnt under heavy load (only 17dba)

It is also a little bit cheap than a OCZ PS 520W (120 € vs. 145 €)

Well, do you think that it is a good choice?? It will run OK with my system?? Of course it will run better than my actually LC Power, but, a OCZ PS 520W is better than this PurePower 680W??

Thanks for reading me... ;);)

I just bought an Enermax 550 for $100 bucks I can tell you how it works around the end of next week. Been having stability problems but if it can run my machine it'll run yours. Right now I'm running 8x80mm case fans 2x120mm CPU fans, FX-53 939, 1 gig hyper x 3500, ATI x800 pro, 2 dvd burners, on a Gigabyte k8nxnsp-939 and i'll overclock too.
I have yet to hear anything bad about enermax, but have heard some bad things about the thermaltake (mostly noise issues). But i'm no expert just dedicated to review searches.

Thermaltake has a reputation of crapping out at high ocs due to instable rails...so I'd stay away ;)

If not OCZ, then PCP&P, then Fortron, then Enermax is the next best brand...and if it isnt flashy, its still very reliable.

So do you think that a OCZ PowerStream 520W will give me better results than the PurePower 680W?? Humm... I know that this OCZ is a great performer, but the amps in the PurePower are amazing... so I don´t know what to do at the moment...
The OCZ is 25 € more expensive, but if you tell me that the diference between OCZ and PurePower is noticeable, I prefer to spend those 25 € to get the OCZ...
In adittion, I don´t need the regulable rails of the OCZ, so it is another reason not to buying the PS 520W...
What I should do?? OCZ PS 520W vs. PurePower 680W? :confused: :confused: :confused:
Thanks for the replies :)

I have the TT680w PSU and it's a hell of alot better then their other ones. As for crappy rails Oh no they are pretty much pefect only slightly over volted.

After seeing some reviews of OCZ 520W and TP 680W, I have very clear my decision... The two PSU´s are beasts, and it doesnt matter what PSU I choose, because I dont have a FX55 and 2x6800U, so two options are good choice... :D :D :D
As long as the TP 680W is 24 € cheaper than the OCZ, I will buy it, and if it doesnt convince me, I will change it for the OCZ...
Hope to have luck with this Thermaltake, because I have always been against their products... :stick: :stick:
Thanks for your replies and opinions, I´ll write here my experiences with this PSU to help other people with the same question as me... :)

I dont understand very good what are you trying to say, sorry, but my english is a little poor... :(
Are you saying that your TP 680W runs at 42ºC?? If so, it is a good temperature, and 1100rpms should be quiet, no??
In a few days I will have my TP 680W and post here my impresions... :P
Thanks for all your replies... ;)

If you lend me the 90 € that it costs more than the TP680W.... :cool: :cool:
In adittion, I dont need the adjustable rails, and for this, the price is oversized a little bit... but, of course, it is a beast of PSU... :P

I will lend you the extra euro's. I charge 10% interest per day! LOL

Anyhow, I was planning on the PurePower 680 Watt, but I changed my mind, because I heard it was really loud. On newegg, the price between the two PSU's is $30, if that...

Humm, in my country, the diference between TP680W and OCZ600W is 88 € (119 vs. 207), but the OCZ520W is "only" 144 €.
I have an Enermax EG-701AX-VH 600W SLI for 167 €, but I dont know how many noise it makes... anyone knows?? :confused: :confused:
Well, now I am really confused...
Here in Spain I have access to OCZ, Enermax, Thermaltake, Antec, and no more brands that I like...
The Enermax Coolergiant I am saying is better than the OCZ PS 520W?? I have this two options now... (I preffer the OCZ, because its a little bit cheaper, but if the Enermax is better, it doesnt matter to expend a little bit more... :D :rolleyes: )

Thanks for all your replies... ;)

I'd take the enermax, if i knew about how quiet is it.. So i think, if you need a quiet PSU, the OCZ would be quieter than enermax, because it has less power... :stick:

I only gor a 680w PSU for investment in more powerful video cards lol they are a drain on systems now more so with SLi lol. 47C an't that bad really as i do have two raptors sitting right net to my PSU it's the way Thermtal did their Armour cases. So i would expect it to get a little hotter then normal if you knew how 'warm' the Raptors get. The only thing i could ask for would be to have it like my ANTEC 480w NEO which allows you to use only the cables you want a very good idea less cables = more tidy case :)

Thanks for all of your replies, but I am waiting a Enermax 600W SLI (I think that is a CoolerGiant, not a Noisetaker, is it important??), hope that perform well... :confused: :confused: :stick:

I'd suggest a Enhance 520W ENS0250-A, EPS 12V, ahs teh 24oin ATX ( EPS ) one 4 6 and 8pin additional rail
Two independent rails on 12V 15A+16A
stabile voltages 11,98-12,02.

you do know, that wattage isn't that important in a psu. I've been hearing great things about the 480w tagans, and they aren't too expensive either

Well, thanks for all of your replies, they have been very helpfull.
Yesterday I received my Enermax Noisetaker 600W, and I am very happy with it. It is a little expensive (160 €), but it is super silent with the fans @ 1000 rpm, and still quiet with fans @ 1600rpm, and has strong lines, with lots of amps... :D :D :D
It performs very well and has plenty of conectors (sata, PCI-E, etc).
I am waiting now for my OCZ PC4800 or something similar (TCCD for sure), because my TwinMOS arent ok for running 24/7... I dont like to stay 24/7 with those voltages... :stick:
Thanks a lot men!
