besides the Wattage what are some other factors on decided if a PSU is any good. I see their are some cheap PSU above 600w, and then some expensive low wattage PSU.

Im getting a DFI board and OCing and I hear atleast a 480 is required I was thinking about getting an aspire case for now that comes with a 500w PSU, do you think this is any good? I figured if it crapped out on me in the future I would just get a better one.

you should look at the rails especially the +12v and regulation but sometimes specs dont mean everything they could have other problems such as unstable rails, rails going out of spec etc...So you should look up some reviews first. The aspire is a good example specs look good but are generally problem filled.

aspire lies about their psu's, and im not too fond of enermax or antec.
get a ocz or fortron blue storm psu

Get yourself a PCP&C, if you think you can afford. Otherwise OCZ, ZIPPY or something...

As above in order of priority:

1. physical size - some PSUs are huge and don't fit in all cases (instant show-stopper).
2. 12v rail(s) amps
3. Manufacturor
4. Noise
5. blinky-lights/colour etc

Also, research for independant tests and reviews to decide between your top candidates.

Which DFI mobo are you going for? If its the NF4 series then you'll will not find a decent 480w+ 24pin native psu for $50. If not then this will be fine http://www.directron.com/tt550ss1.html

In order, 1 being most important:
1. 12v ampage
2. 5 & 3.3v ampage
3. Total wattage
4. Little or no fluctuation when testing with a 'scope.
5. Ability to operate at reported spec under normal operating conditions.
6. Adequate cooling
7. Adjustable pots
8. Appearance

PC Power & Cooling are my recommendation.

actually thats exactly it: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=13-136-152&depa=0

I was going to get this Case and PSU, it has a 500w PSU already with it and very good cooling. I think the PSU sucks but the question is, it sufficient to power my board with slight over clocking on air? Also a high speed 92mm delta fan will be sitting over an xp-90, so I know that prob will hog some power. Here is the case I was considering strongly: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144089

If thiers a better Case/powersupply for the same price range ($150ish) please name it. I havent been able to get a price on that aspire case w/o a PSU in it to figure out how much left I would have twards a PSU.. I Really apreciate any help guys.
