Hi, I´ve got a 3200+ 0450, MSI Neo2Platinum, 9800Pro, and I´m wanting 3 waterblocks for BIExtrem 2 and one pump.

- PolarFLO TT Cpu A64.

- Swiftech MCW6002 A64.

- Danger Den TDX 1/2'' A64.

- Pump: L30....

Which one is the best waterblock for my 3200+ and my BIExtrem II.

PD: my previous waterblock is a MK4 rev2 by Morphling1, user in the forum, is a microchannel but I think that this system isn´t good for A64, because the micrchannel had been centrated in the AMD XP Core and now the A64 core is bigger.

anyone of those 3 first blocks will be good ... as they are the best performers from each company. I would choose on price and availability :)

The Swiftech MCW6002 will definately perform best, especially with a relatively weak pump like the L30 you're mentioning.

I recomended you MK4.

I have gor P4 and this water block.

This is adapter for P4 motherboard. Morph has got adapter for A64 :)

I would also recommend the mcw6002 also.

Here is a good link of how several WB's perfromc against each other from procooling site:

6002.. with a super weak pump like hte L30 a micro channel block is not a good idea..

and btw the a64 cores are not as big as you think. that block will still suit it fine.. the heatspreader doesnt mean a thing.. all of hte cooling is done where the core is still.

So is the heatspreader really necessary? I mean, once I get my stuff, would it be better just to remove the 'spreader and do direct die cooling? (water cooling)

highly not reccomended to remove the IHS. you will 75% chance kill ur cpu.. and also it makes it ALOT harder to get a good mount with the waterblock and you have a high chance of cracking the core with the block tipping..

its not for the faint of heart at all.. I did it to my old winchester ( did 2.8ghz) and it died.. now im stuck on a much worse 2.3max winnie.

ok, so if K reads that graph correctly, the curves closest to the origin are best, right?

in a review of www.gruntville.com, the PolarFLO TT Cpu A64 is betther than the DD TDX, and in some reviews the TDX and the Swiftech MCW6002 are similar.

Then .... the PolarFLO TT is the best one ??

That Gruntville review isn't scientific, doesn't even look like it's trying to be scientific. It just looks like a big infomercial.

Warl0k, there was a big debate over the validity of the Gruntville review, the prognosis was that it was bull****.

IMO the PolarFLO is mostly looks and will perform behind the TDX and 6002. As far as the 6002 and TDX go, with a high pressure, high flow system the TDX will do better, with a lower flow system the 6002 will win.

I went 6002 because I like the style of the Swifty block comparted to the TDX, the mounting on the 6002 lets the block find it's own center as it can float (very little) under it retention bracket.

But I do know many people with the TDX who love it, Dangerden does great work and if I were getting a new A64 block I would probably get the TDX with the brass top. Main reason being I sold my L30 (lower flow because of lower pressure) and plan to get a MCP 350 which has a crapload of head and thus can keep up with the pressure drop of the TDX

Warl0k, I think it all depends on what pump is used, as the TDX needs higher flow/pressure.
