How do I find the PLL?

I'm trying to OC my laptop, and I need to know the PLL. How do I find it?

I found an IC that *might* be it:

SWAP
net 0428
NS601682B


But Google fails to turn out any results. Maybe that's not the one? How do I find it?

It will be a rectangular IC next to a clock crystal usually around 14(MHz?).

Someone here did it I think. He was using an acer. Dothans man - they O/C very well on stock voltage. May be a bit more difficult with the new 915GM chipset though. DDRII sucks, I ran some everest home benches on mums LG LW60-2 laptop. Latencies are well over 150ns and superPI takes 2x longer than my A64 rig. :(

Hey I just bought 75 new 40mm fans from ebay((hope they work)) for 20$. And I was thinking of using one of them to put active colling on the PLL. Is it worth the effort?

To find the PLL on my Dell D505 laptop i took everything off (heatsink for cpu, nb) and ended up having to take the whole motherboard out and the PLL was on the bottom side of the motherboard.

So you'll have to do a bit more pulling apart. :cool:

Needless to say, it really didn't help for me as there was no clockgens etc for my PLL. :(

It's not worth actively cooling the PLL unless you need very high FSB. Although, I have a simple heatsink on mine, and I can run at 280 without it even getting slightly hot.

It has a SiS755 chipset btw.
