My PSU has having some ticking sound. I read somewhere that certian batches of PowerStream has this and it will not affect reliability or operation. The issue is that I have already open up the casing (to clean the PSU) thus no more warranty.

Is there any way to repair the PSU myself?

Thanks.

Does it do this ticking thing all the time?

Does it sound like something in the fan, like a wire perhaps?

Describe the sound...if it isn't mechanical, then the ability for the end user to fix it drops off steeply, as you can guess.

It may be the way the heatsinks are attached, or it could be any number of other things causing this sound.

It's a known problem with some Powerstream PSU's (mine does the same).
It has to do with the Active PFC module, which needs to be replaced.
Best thing to do is to drop bigtoe a PM, he can help you.

I'm moving this topic to the OCZ support section, which makes it easier for them to read.
