I have removed everything in the startup via msconfig, but i think this stuff is contained in a file loaded at windows, how to i remove it please?

Msconfig doesnt contain all the answers to removing pop-ups. You need the following two programs:

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.05 (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-1)

..and..

Spybot - Search & Destroy (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-1)

Please make sure you click on the update button for both before using. You'll see how to use them both quite easily. After which, run Trend Micro Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) which will get rid of any serious threats.

For Adaware, you'll have to manually select all checkboxes after it scans and click next (do not click on quarantine) and for spybot, do the scan thing, click the checkmarks for all of them and click next (or something to that effect) to get rid of them and then click "immunize" after you've scanned and removed, dont worry about anything that doesnt get solved in spybot.

Try that and report back.

sorry guys i worded the post wrong.

A company did own the laptop before hand, and in this box that appears in windows xp just before the login screen appears it says that any change in the data on the laptop would be breeching laws and that.

It literally just looks like a window that pops up which can be closed, but is anoying to have :/

Try this:

Open the registry editor (regedit)

and try to locate a folder named startup

See if there's something inside that folder that may be relative to that window
