Is this chip considered better than a winchester? Some say they are failed FX-55s, this would give them strained silicone. No wonder people are getting 2.8ghz out of them. Dammit, should have got a clawhammer instead of my winnie

I had a 3500+ winnie and replaced it with a clawhammer, still didn't test it because I'm waiting for my ram, but I'll post my results hopefully within a week, btw the following thread has more info about the clawhammer 3500+:

some are failed FX-53s with half-cache (right?), not FX-55s.

My winnie only gives me 2.55ghz@1.5 volts. 2.8ghz clawhammer :slobber: would be nice

I hate to be the one that always says this, but... CPU overclocking is luck of the draw. I got one of those Clawhammers and can only do 2.6GHz. If you read that thread, there are A LOT of people that can only do 2.6 at around stock voltage and get "stuck" and no matter what voltage they pump into it that's all they can do. You might get lucky, but if you already can do 2.55, you probably won't be able to necessarily do much more. If you read that thread, you'll also notice there was a guy that sold his 2.65 Winchester for one of those and only ended up with a 2.6 Clawhammer. If you've got a CPU in that range, 2.55-2.65 I don't think it's really worth the effort... but it's up to you. I'd just wait for a Venice or San Diego. Good luck.

^^ thanks for the correction :\

venice and san diego will probably have just as much luck of the draw as these. maybe without the cold boot. and on a overall higher overclock. but still i'm sure there will be a venice, that can't match a sledgeclaw.

I got one of them except for its a caazc instead of a caa2c. it does 2.72 @ 1.67v.
