Hi,

Simple question does the aa8xe support OCZ 4200 EB Platinum Rev2 Ltd edition out of the box or do i need to do a bios flash with different ddr2 ram first. If i require a bios flash where do i get v22 beta for this board?

Thanks your help with this is much appreciated.

Yes it does, there is also a bios update for improved performance.

Hi,

Just got around to booting my ABIT AA8XE for the first time. I have 1gig OCZ pc2 4200el ltd editio rev 2 which apparently is compatible. However, it wont boot! It gets as far as post code C1 then goes to ES / E5 which is not listed in the post codes it then has an intermittent long beep. I've reset the CMOS and tried both 1 and 2 sticks Help!

BTW specs are in sig

Oublie,

The bios is a smidge too tight for them to boot properly. If you have some other DDR2, boot with those, then go into the bios and make sure the tRCD and tRP are set to 3 manually (CAS and tRAS can stay auto if you like) save and exit, then power down, insert the OCZ and you should be fine. You might be able to tighten the tRP to 2 after you have it running, but the tRCD will more than likely need to remain at 3 until ABIT updates the bios. :)

Hope that helps :)

Thanks,

from what i read elsewhere, it seems that the ram is supported but only with a bios flash - new board - new memory so no way to flash. Luckily i order a cheap stick of ddr2 which should be here this week :) if nothing else its always an emergency spare to test for problems etc.

Thanks.
