How fast have you driven??

I lost my NY license by getting caught doing 105mph in a 65 zone.

I hit 125 in a '90 Taurus SHO, late for work when the network was down (was a net admin at the time).

I also reached 210km/h (about 130mph) in a bmw 325i on the E19 in Belgium, but that isn't all that out of the ordinary for belgium...

Heh, I have done some rather serious speeding back in the day.
I had a '70 Monte Carlo and used to do over 140mph down a side street here in Wichita. Man, I loved that!!! (Btw, the Speed limit was 30)
No clue how I did it though! Drive down it now and just.. wow...

other then that, Couldnt say for sure... Ive gone up to 160 once or twice... what can I say? I love speed!!!!!!!!!

Other then that, heh... just try to keep the lead foot a lil on the lite side. Try to make sure I dont go over 5-10 over the speed limit.

I did 155mph in a Budget rental car in the rain near London.

I also once overtook a police car at 137mph by mistake. It was dark and I did not spot him in the inside lane.

Finally, I also was doing 115mph in a clapped out car and my wife told me to slow down. It's ok I told her, this car can take it. Within 15 seconds of saying that the head gasket failed and the radiator expansion resovoir got so hot it split.

But...that was legal I suppose. Unfortunately my speedometer only goes up to 140...so I have no idea what I've hit on the road. But...I've burried it a few times:)

I don't know how fast I was actually going, but the ticket said 100 mph. I was on my bike...650 yamaha...my buddy broke the keys to his trunk off trying to open it..that's where my helmet and glasses were, we were toasted...leaving a stripper bar. Sooo there we were, he could not drive his car, ignition and trunk keys were the same and I had no helmet (in Va there are helmet laws).
Eventually we decided to go for it on my bike (brilliant move!). A city cop passed us going the other way, and turned around at a break in the median. Since I was bombed, had no insurance, helmet, safety glasses, or inspection sticker, I decided to lose him. We turned into an apartment complex, turned bike off and hid behind a tractor trailer until he passed. fired it up and took off again. A few more miles down the road, somehow the same cop passed us again going the other way! He almost wrecked trying to turn around. I had a pretty good lead on him, the roads were slick from recent rain and my buddy (on back of bike) was screaming STOP! in my ear when we came up on about 5 cop cars blocking the road...I yelled to my buddy asking him should we hit some backyards or stop? He yelled STOP! (again).
Anyway we stopped and the cop we had been trying to ditch came running up screaming "You thought you got away, didn't you?" I told him that I never even saw him which seemed to upset him. He was about 5'4 and got really upset when I asked him if there weren't height requirements for city cops...the other cops laughed and he turned the color of Blood...mine!
I got 9 tickets that night and spent the night as a guest of the city of Newport News, Va. That was 20 years ago.:D

It worked out pretty well....I had to sell the bike to pay the lawyer, but he got all but the Drunk driving charge thrown out...made a monkey out of the cop (man was he pissed) It was the 1st year of the ASAP Program in Va and they were looking for "Volunteers". Upon completion of the course the DUI charge was dropped and never even appeared on my driving record.:D

In my old age, I have settled down and gotten wiser....today I would go for the backyards!:D

if you've still got your original window sticker, you'll see it under the details for that package (R/T and ACR.) ACR and R/T packages (96+) had a "speed limit delete" PCM to about ~130mph. 95 ACR neons had a true "no speed limiter."

They routinely fly at about half of mach1.
The SR Blackbird can hit mach3 and the old x-15 from the 1950's hit mach 6.7 before the program was shut down...the goal was mach 8 and they probably would have reached it given more time! :D

My Rover 220 coupe wont do more than a registered 135mph, but it is a bit tired now.

The Cup is "only" 2.0 litre! The "default" engine for race 330 Hk at 7000 omd/min.

After that we got the Mercedes-Benz S500/S420 we didnt know if it had a 420 or 500 engine since they are both V8 and look same. 2 of them came to my dads office one had no passport for it what so ever that like year 1997 i think when they just came out.

We had a number plate on it "04 01 MOL" these number plates only for politicians but with a bit if you have contacts and money you can get all sort of number plates. This allowed us to do what ever we wont on the roads that was phun. Now though cops know that ppl buy this type of stuff like you can pay $25,000 per year to have sirens on top of your car again gives you ability to do what ever u wont in the road..

Then after this merc we got Merc SL500 restlyed with the white indicators.. that was worst then the old merc it used to brake for my dad from time to time. We only done like 200KM/h on this one

I topped out at 100 mph in my '90 toyota pickup. thing has 150k miles on, leaking brake fluid on a crapping braking system (all of the brakestands i've done makes my truck harder to stop then stoping a semi), and probably tons of other problems that i'm not aware of, but it still halls some ass for short distances. used to be able to beat all of my friends until one of them go a mazdaaspeed ricer.

this was done on a windy road where every week someone dies either from drunk driving or falling asleep at the wheel... the shaking my truck was doing kept me wide awake!!

This summer i did 180kph in a mazda 626, the car is old and pretty broken! When i did this i had my driving licence for only three days! The day later i did 120kph in town in a curve, i was scared after this and i mounted at 140kph a big slope. All this was in lebanon, no cops whatsoever on the street so you can do what you want on the road, i didn't have much time to enjoy it cause i had the licence there at the end of my vacation. Now i'm back in france and i got my french driving licence twso days ago :) Now the cops are pretty strict on the speed limit and they can take your driving licence if you break speed limit (pretty scary). However my dad drives at max at 200kph in his audi A4 (neat car btw) and average 170kph (on highway of course)

Sadly enough, the fastest I've ever gone is about 90mph (uphill, my dad in the passenger seat) in my 67 mustang. My dad has got it up to at least 120mph though, maybe more but unsure because 120mph is the speedometer's limit. I need to upgrade to disc brakes before I'll even consider going faster. Trying to stop with 36 year old drum brakes is NOT fun when you're going 90mph.

A real cheap disc break upgrade for a 67/68 is go to a boneyard
look for a ford granada with disc brakes, take the front spindles & all. the spindles are a direct replacment no modding other then lines plus the pitman arm is a little longer so you get quicker stearing responce as a bonus. while you're there look for a 65/66
stang take the rearend. its a direct swap no mods. you'll have about 2" more tire room. :D i'v owned more mustangs then any other Vampire.:devil:

I've heard about the granada swap before, but hadn't ever given it much thought, since my mechanical skills are non-existant. I've had the car for sale for a while now though, and everyone out here wants me to pay them to take it. Decided if this latest guy flakes out like the rest, I'm just going to keep it, and slowly turn it into my dream car. I'll get my dad to come scavenging for granada discs with me in that case, since even though he hates working on the car, he knows more what he's doing than I do.

I have a 180SX here in Japan. It is the same thing as the 240 SX as far as the exterior goes but it has a SR20 Engine with an SR20 Turbo and some mods I can't say ;) but I shift from 3 to 4th gear at 140 mph and it has 5 gears :) I think this car might do little under 10 second 1/4 mile there is actual place to time your 1/4 mile here but that is what I think

I'd have to say the fastest i've gone was 160+MPH on a Hayabusa. Second fastest would be around the same speeds on a ZX11. Exactly what speeds, i have no idea... You will never catch me looking at the guages when i'm going over 100mph on public streets on a bike.
Fastest in a 4 wheeler would be a tie between a '99 C5 and a '96 Z28 both around 150mph.
My current car is a real slouch in the engine performance department but more than makes up for it in handling.
That makes me happy though, far less chance of getting a 6+point ticket from jonny law. ;)

I had a Skyline and I sold it and to get the 180sx I am serious I can make a VERY sharp turn doing close to 100. The car grabs the road like I never seen any car before. The Skyline I had was not as fast and I could do turns that fast.

172-176mph in my 88 Mustang GT, 470hp and lots of suspension mods.. Probably could have gone 180+, but car started to feel a bit light for my comfort. Didn't feel like actually flying! :) Have gone 140mph+ many other times in it too. In 8 years of having it only gotten pulled over 2 times. Both times on on-ramps, first by a state trooper I was doing 95mph got off with just a "worn tires" ticket $5 and no points. Second time doing 107mph, went to court to fight it and got it reduced to a basic speeding ticket $80 and points withheld, the ramp speed wasn't marked and the cop lied in court about being able to radar me.:toast:

On some cars in order to stay with the design of the car say like in this case the stock tires can only go so fast. The manufacturer programs into the ECU of the car for the engine to shut down when it reaches a max speed. Now that I have tires that can go alot faster than 130 now I wish to get rid of the limiter using a controller and see how fast I can go. The way it happens is as soon as the car hits the speed the engine shuts down till the speed ur at goes back below cut off speed then the engine starts up again. So as u hit the speed its funny cause the engine cuts on and off while u flirt with the cut off speed. Sucks during a race :( .

Fastest i've ever gone was coming back from Le Mans last year in my dad's BMW M3, he decided to stretch it out a bit on the motorway, took it to the garage 2 months later for a service and got the guy to check the max speed from the onboard computer. 177MPH. So much for the 155mph limiter:D
Asked the guy at the garage about it and he said that most of them dont actual hav the limiter on them, only ones that always hav them are the cars that they send for reviews.
Im not complaining though, it was a lot of fun :)

And when I hit 120km/h (not actually certain that was the speed but 6500 RPM and second gear is about 120 I think) the field was coming to it's end, and the adrenalin rusching part of it, is that 2 of the brakes are dead and the other two are REALLY bad!! So when i finally got it to stop I couldn't walk becouse me legs were shaking to much!

I can alsa mention that all the interior is torn out, dashboard, floor carpets, backseat and the inside of the doors. Also the rear spring are coming up throu the floor where the bakseat should have been. <- That's why it's only a spair part car :hehe:

Well nothin like that...:) But..........Waaay over 140 in a 1965 Dodge Polaris 500 with a 383 Police Special 4spd /Hearst shifter and Hooker Headers....originally ordered with a 4.10 rear ratio...I tired of the 1/4 mile and betweeen "red light" down town runs..it was a small town...so I put a 3.23 automatic trans ratio 3rd member ring/gear/pinion in it for high speed! It was unbelievable. Shifting into 2nd gear @ 55+ was so solid that the glove box door would fly open @ 120+ on the spedo with the Tac not quite max'd was a high RPM cruise in 3rd and @ that spd/rpm going into 4th..just pegged it and I don't know how fast it was....I ate sooo many Mustangs in the 120+ mph range , I lost count! :p:

My daily work truck is a 1963 w200 318 poly...pretty much stock! :D

Hay i've had my share of fast cars & bikes but you cant beat the VW TDI. I have a 99 TDI beetle & a 03 TDI golf, I had the beetle up to 122mph & the golf to 118 but the best part is they max out @ 52-53mpg and @ 90mph i still get 38mpg.:banana:

fun story with this car, was doing a tight on-ramp at about 95 KM/H (2nd gear maxxed), shifted to 3 with the gas pinned and the tires spun a little, spinning the car twice. Lucky bastard i am, it was only two lanes, and the only car behind me was a boxter. (this was after the black-out (im in toronto), so noone was on the streets)

90MPH in 1986 Benz 350SDL (turbo diesel) rofl.. mind you, it was like riding on a cloud.

I probably average about 90mph on I-75 to and from school everyday, and here in ATL they are trying to fix the horrible traffic problems that we have, and one of the ways they are trying to do that is by pulling shiznit load more people over. I used to drive much faster, but after 3 speeding tickets in 5 months (got out of the first 2 and hoping to keep the streak going when I go tot court in a few weeks :banana:) you start to take a hint.

It's funny how I found this thread posting a thread asking for radar detector/jammer suggestions :D

Plan was to run the best 'street' time I could dial in, then pull the exhaust, run straight headers, the blue streak fuel they sell at the track, and install a set of slicks I had. Sept, after dialing in the best 'street' time I could I pulled into the pits and when I went to swap the rims out with the slicks I forgotten the needed special shanked lug nuts at home. I was spinning the tires so bad already there was no reason to buy the fancy fuel or pull the exhaust.

formula jedi if anyone knows it, used to be called formula honda/600 but they changed the name this year. uses a cbr 600 engine and its good for ~ 140 on the right track.

oh yea there fun man. Just start out with something normal if you want to get into it. For one, the insurance is KILLER on one if your young. Parts are VERY pricy, even after just a lay down, witch you will do allot of your new, cost 600 to replace the front pannle. And the hayabusa is pretty tough to ride if your new. I road a freinds turbo busa a while back (ive been riding bikes for years) and it almost threw me off. Almost ever gear throws the front end up like crazy. Theres absolutely nothing like it though.

A freind of mine I knew when i lived in houston used to have a drag busa as well, he had 3 inches on the front if im not mistaked, he let me take it for a few low 8 runs, it felt like your skin was comming off hehe...

EDIT, just read up on this, even IF you had a modded PCM that removed the governor, this car has a 290 HP engine in it. Now, the Z28/SS tops out at about 160mph, that's a 325HP engine.... And the Z28 isnt a luxury car it's light and quick. Nice fib but i caught you.
