It's Intel's new chipset. Supports supports dual channel DDR, and some other stuff that I'm too lazy to look up right now. It'll also hopefully start the demise of Rambus, at least in the PC market :)

Granite Bay is a MB chipset that has been made only for one reason. to torture us with a long wait to get one, and then to make us pay dearly for it, then we get it, and it's up to us to deal with all the bugs of a $200 plus new board.

It's also a river/bay/town in Oregon, I believe...
