Stock LGA 775 cooler not cutting it?

Anyone have any first-hand experience with the new socket and retail package? How hot does it get? Do you experience any thermal throttling at load? All opinions welcome!

according to THG, the stock cooler is barely sufficient. it comes with copper core, and aluminum fins. the stock intel cooler with included thermal paste , tests show that the ambient interior case temps rose to 36c! which violates intel's spec maximum requirements for safe operation!

Fugger mentioned that he's worked with Intel on this and part of the problem is the BTX specification - manufacturers do not know how to deal with it yet.

AFAIK BTX requires ducted airflow over the processor area from front to back of the casing. Intel just hasn't bothered to fix this. :rolleyes:

the ES of the stock LGA coolers were very good! 90mm fan versus the noisy 70mm fan on the retail product!
