try that with 80Ohms insted of 120, It gave me 5mHz more :-)

any word on a memory vmod for the gef2mx by any chance?
(without having to chance the I/O on the mainboard)

i recently vmodded my V7100 gf2mx pure here, used 100ohms resistor on a fan switch (those used to connect a fan to the mobo)..

GPU @ 250mhz here..

and about the vmod for ram, I think its knda impossible, since the ram voltage is contled by the AGP connector itself..

Tried an asus 7100 tonight, added a 39Ohm res. between pins 1 and 2 of the vchip.

got me a OC of core @ 268 highlevel / 267.3 lowlevel

3D mark (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=5198713)
:D

KaKa
12-01-2002, 02:29 AM
39 Ohm??

SektorX
12-01-2002, 04:09 AM
yep they didn't have any 120Ohm res. left in the store, so I bought a couple of 39Ohms they did have (cheaper than a pot)
so I tried 3 in serie at first that gave me the normal vmod, but I got to the max pretty soon, so I tried 2 in serie. That gave me some more but my abit siluro was spuwing out the heat and got unstable. Luckily my friend got an old 7100 and I tried the 80Ohms mod on that one, hardly any heat. I got much higher clocks but the score was substantually less. so I decided to try a single 39Ohms res. I worked, heat still was doable and I got a stable bench, just let the chip burn in a while @ a 15mhz higher speed, or it will freeze.

hmm i got my g2mx from gainward(golden sample :D) to 250 250 without any mods... the ram is 3.5ns, so ill try to push it to 300 with a bios editor

the ram on tha g2mx cards gets their juice directly from the mobo? u sure? ...does anybody have a link or pics for me to do the vmod on the core? thx:toast:

SektorX
12-02-2002, 08:35 AM
those specs are very high in accordance to my 2 cards, I didn't raise the voltage of the rams (simply because I couldn't) and never got the rams of the siluro above 207 stable and the asus at 205

the core could go up to 225 without voltmods on the abit and 235 on the asus.

saaya

gotta love gainward for that g2mx :D ...i think i payed 180$ though...very expensice for a g2mx... well the memory was really sweeet etrontech 3.5ns memory, i saw some guys on another page that had the same card and they got the memory to 350! ...well thats what they say...should be possible though...

7100 gpu mod =) (http://www.overclockers.com/tips825/)

My only question is...

In my card the name of the chip isn't US1150 but what is written on the chip is AMS1505CMA0037.

The layout of the chip is exactly the same but but the legs are turned 90degrees down...

Any idea????:)

I guess is the same.

Ah... Well I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the geforce 2 mx100/200's get voltage from the 3.3v line like the mx400s. If that is the case F*CK voltmods.
Raise your 3.3v line to around 3.47v and see how far you can go with that. The 3.3v line controls the memory voltage and the core voltage (a bit differnt with the core) I've found that I can run the same speeds I was running when I had 100 ohms it just with the 3.3v line being high. For the max stable core I did need to turn it back on though. (I have my voltsmods for the card on a switch, 100 ohms, 120ohms and normal voltage :D)

Clocks for my card below. (I'm actually on the 2nd page of 3dmark2001 for the geforce2mx400's with this card now, with 1 project per user on, its just the crappy card ram thats holding me back)

You lucky.... I would really like to get my hands on one of those V1700s, just so I can be the king of geforce2mx400s :p:

What about finding which pins are 3.3v on the back of the AGP with a multimeter and soldering a wire onto them and supplementing them with 3.6+v? or even more? :D

Well, I did try upping my power supplies 3.3v line to 3.6 but the card just gave me bull. Massive artifcats of the kind I've never seen before to an instant freeze on first bench. Reboot, get into windows, try to bench, I think the computer crashed before i saw anything on the screen after hitting benchmark in 3dmark. After another reboot I don't think I made it into windows so I decided to call it quits :D
I have the adjustment pots for my 3.3v line inside the powersupply, but since I got a new drill for chrismas, I'm going to fix that so i can try adjusting "on the fly"

sayaa: how can the card have 3.5ns ram? the fastest ram on any geforcemx is on the asus v1700pro with 4.5ns if you need proof just look at pretty much everyone on the first page, and 80% of the people on the second page of geforce2mx400's (aside from me) are using the v1700pro.

I really gotta get my hands on one of those. If anyone knows where I can get one for less the $60 canadian shipped, please let me know. I've got some pretty crazy stuff in mind to blow the #1 geforce2mx400 score away :D

edit: and with the upcoming cold weather in canada I should be able to get on the first page (we're finally getting under -4...)

Looks pretty sexy. I personally don't think you'll need that many fans, but I guess it can't hurt :D
You "might" be better just watercooling the core. Let us/me know how far you can get it though when you do put it in.

VoRtAn_MaDgE
01-13-2004, 07:42 PM
I honestly dunno if watercooling this card would be better then this "crazy" cooling...you can't imagine the cold that the p4 cooler stay as soon as i connect that tornado to a molex:D ...
Let's see when i connect that baby what happens:D

lalPOOO
01-13-2004, 09:09 PM
Well, what I ment was that the best you possibly can do is ambient with aircooling. With water cooling its often easier to pelt/waterchill, which will be required if you want to pass 290 on the core.

Btw, what clocks have you reached, you don't seem to have posted them?

VoRtAn_MaDgE
01-14-2004, 03:34 AM
I understand u...i didn't use gf2 yet...i'm out of time right now:( .
There are guys in the orb that past the 300core with just aircooling:)

lalPOOO
01-14-2004, 02:34 PM
Like me :P:

I doubt its just plain air cooling though. They're most likly putting there comp near a cold window or something. Its not that the cooling isn't strong enough, its that a lot of the cores aren't going to go to 300 at 25 celcus.

Hope is the last dieying...so we will see...with all this fans the vga stays really cold so...it's a matter of time:D

Does anyone know how to vmod a MX420? I think its a Microstar one!

I'l post some pics of my modded card soon ;)

I know that has only one chip on the front of the card and 4 smaller ones on the back!

I just need general info of where to vmod and where the measuring points are!

geforce 4mx420 is a whole different thing. You're best off starting a new thread, or looking around for a thread on mx440/420's. Sorry I can't help you man.

and the card only got to my overclocked score... lol

...If you didn't do the voltmod, then you can't say the guide didn't do anything. If you don't understand how to do the voltmod, just ask.

Looks like you'd want to use a 1k vr. Although you'd always be running your core at higher voltage then stock even with the vr at 1k, but you're not going to go to the trouble of soldering it on there to run just a bit above stock voltage are you? ;)

So far I've gotten this (edited picture) out of it. It appears as though there is another step, where you "All you have to do is change R612" I am not sure what you change it with though. Try sending Holst a PM, hes great with Vmods and electronics in general.

Well, my other card had no shot at getting to 1st on 3dmark2k1. The memory speed was just way too slow. I imagine I could have pushed it a bit farther, but it just wouldnt have been worth the trouble for just a couple more points. So I got an asus v7100pro 32mb which has so far on stock cooling surpassed my results even with -10 air blowing onto the card. Right now it maxes out at 272/262 where it starts artifacting like mad, and crashes. So I'm just sort of waiting until I pick up a nice copper cpu heatsink, or I get a new pump. Then I'll do the voltmod and let er rip. Right now my current record with the new card is 5025, which is just with room temp air.

Wouldn't mind some competition though... ?

Which card are you talking about? geforce 2 mx100/200 or a geforce 4 mx*** ?

ah, saw your image. I couldn't track down that regulator, so I'm not really sure if I can help you :(
Vmem is your 3.3v line though. The ram on there kind of sucks though, you'll probably be able to get 225 out of it at best.

I found this in an other thread

May be late in replying to this, but what kind of regulator is your gfx card using?

Mine is using a 1084 regulator, which is the same as the LM317 we are using for our rheobuses. I just need to change the value of the resistor to ground and I will get the voltage I want, though I didnt want variable as it really is sensitive to resistance. :)

I have the same regulator, on my pic it´s right after the AGP port...

Edit:

I´ve made a detailed pic:

I got this PM from Flexus due a threah I posted in yesterday:

I have also a Geforce 2MX 200 but mine is from Gainward... So maybe you are lucky an find a mod for a Card with an US 1150 Regulator on it... Mine has an other regulator.. I can think of the mod, but I dont want to try until my new System is ordered.... Here is the thread: XS-thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5263)

Well, I took a close-up from my card and got this V-regulator:
http://home.scarlet.be/~gebrvd00/vr.jpg
Different vender, but I must be somewhat the same. I look for datasheet in a few sec. EDIT: found it: http://www.helm.com.tw/product/ir/paper/source/IRU1150.pdf

I found a Vmod link for the 1150: http://www.madshrimps.be/gotofaqlink.php?linkid=2073

Jup, going to do that also. Now I'm only gettin 235MHz on core in 3d mark 03. But I'm able to go up to 250 in windows, so I might to able to get that 3d mark stable with voltmod.
And I have this unused 240W TEC over here, I hope it doesn't have coldbug :p:

And so I did the vmod:

http://home.scarlet.be/~gebrvd00/gf5.jpg

I got a 100 Ohm pot and a 100 Ohm resistor in series. In theorie I should be able to regulate between stock voltage and +-2,6V.
With rivatuner I was able to push the slider to its most right position, benchmark stable @ 265MHz.
With Coolbits I could go even higher to 270MHz on core.
Nice improvement this vmod.

Most stupid thing is that my 3d mark score didnt went up, and even got worse when hittin +260MHz. My VGA RAM overclocks only 20MHz, and its really holding me back :(
Ah well, it still was fun, and it's a nice practice for vmodding.
