Has anybody already tried the the winxp64bit download?, i´m downloading it now.. should be finished in 1h. I will set it up later than on my Seagate 120gb, which is empty at the moment  and report about it.
Report some infos if anybody has already tried it. Maybe there is also an improvement of performance. :slobber:

so got some first infos now:
I have already set it up now. If you have downloaded the file, you have an iso-file. Burn this on a Cd, with Alcohol or Clone Cd. If you got the Cd finished, restart the PC and boot from the Cd. Its like a normal win xp installation. You can only choose the language english. It´s the finished version but it only works for 14 days.. so its a Trial version only to test the programm.
But i haven´t testet more because now i need to download 64bit drivers @ nvidia.com, you cant install the normal drivers that are for example at the install disk from the Msi Neo2 board. You also need 64bit graphic drivers.
If i got everything downloaded and installed i will report more and also up some sreens. Because now its like the normal win xp, you can only run in 16 or 32bit, without 64bit drivers.

so.. i installed the 64 bit drivesr now:
first the nforce driver: 6.25 BETA Win64
than the graphic driver: 66.96 Win64
but the systems still runs on 32-Bit, i reinstalled the graphic drivers and the same 32-Bit. Than i installed Sandra the 64bit version. It worked but it looks like the normal 32-Bit Version too. I thought maybe there is an improvement in performance and run 3dmark05 but nothing.. The systems just still runs with 32-Bit.
Maybe there is an option in bios i have to activate first or i need some more drivers, but at the moment i have no idea. I will informate me about this and maybe set up again or try something else if i know more but maybe its also just better to wait ar the full normal version.
Anyway: Here are some pics:

From what I have heard its suppose to make a difference in SuperPI runs. See if theres a difference.

k wait a moment but i think if the systems still runs with 32-Bit there is also no differnce.

i´ve found a review now @ http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=amd64xp&page=2.. and it just looks like me by them, it seems like you cant activate 64 bit in the graphic driver menu, i think the only improvement from the 64-Bit version is in games, that support 64-Bit like Stalker. I think also Far Cry supports it so i will install it maybe than and report some more, but i am not sure if farcry really support 64-Bit. Just a suggestion. Maybe somebody knows it 100%?

No...the reason why the 64 bit video wont work is becasue the DX driver is still now working correctly for ATI and Nvidia beta drivers...

I just gave the 1289 RC1 a shot a few hours ago also...its starting to get there...loaded up all my drivers except the realtek sound...it did see and install the driver for the realtek GB lan...which normal XP will not pick up untill the driver is installed...

Also...the latest NF3 drivers do work and do run under 64bit...non beta...but had better performance with the Nvidia beta driver...but only by 2 - 4%...using si sandra...

Hopefully the DX issue gets worked out very soon...either with a DX update or beta driver fix...then this should be a good OS

jeah i was also told that it depends on the DirectX drivers, i also saw it because if i wanted to install DircectX9.0c, it says that the drivers are not compatible with my system... So we have to wait for the "right" DirectX drivers before it works and then there is maybe also an improvement of perfromance.

Well i must say it dose kinda suck as when i use the browser it skips : / so i think im going to give windows 2k3 server a try any word on if its better?

Okay well finally getting around to it I'm installing XP64 now read a couple more reviews on the 3d performance and it looks bad, but 2 days after the review ATI came out with newer drivers hopefully thatyll help. I'll post back with 3dmark comparisons.

looks like the same, i think the differeneces come when your processes support 64bit, then :banana::banana::banana: will be a whole lot faster
a good test would to be wheteher th os is any more of a resource hog or not

Wells here the 3dmark03 run I did. 64bit was 377pts lower, the 64bit cpu scores are higher so looks like ATI just needs better 64bit support.

3DMark05, once again looks like 3dmarks suffer but improvement in the cpu score.

I just downloaded a copy too, plan on installing it on my new build to play with for a day or two. But lack of drivers might make it tough for now.

Bla$na, I think you have to download it again. Ver. 1433 is on the M$ site now.

Blahhh really? Is there a way to update without completely re-installing? I JUST formatted and put 64 bit version v.1289. Everything is stable and fine EXCEPT i can't get my audio to work, even my onboard and the driver comes with the chipset driver!

maybe i will try it next week.. but before there are no 64bit DirectX drivers, it wont change anything.
So i think i will wait for the final version now, which will be released soon and than there will also be 64bit drivers for everything i think. And if 64bit is supported completly than, there will be an inprovement of perfromance. But i´m a bit thrilled, how it work in games than, because not every game will support 64bit..

okay, cool. you can upgrade it, by booting from the new cd and choosing the repair option. all my drivers work fine, but im currently using 32, like u waiting for later version. the wow windows on windows emulator is very good, 32 bit apps run seamlessly into windows, and games run exactly the same speed, maybe faster in x64. i normally keep up to date on www.planetamd64.com and just joined this forum cos i have a slight interest in ocing. cya around.

you can always repair your windows.., but mostly you will lose some performance if you dont reinstall it completly

After 15 days you must activate it over the web or you cannot logon once you activate it you have one year of use.

haha even better - i have unpartitioned on two drives, xp-32 sp1, xp-32 sp2, x64 1289, x64 1433. :D i have the best of several worlds.

installing on different partitions is not an issue for me, they are on different drives, and they are all windows and xp so its fine for the boot loader not to mess up. actually i use xp32, since x64 doesnt support the speedfan program for my oem mobo.
