Mitsubishi MegaView™ Pro 37

So, I've been shopping for a good second monitor to for the fx-55 system I have . . . I was looking at LCD's over 20" and wasn't too razzed about the cost. Then I found this Mitsubishi MegaView™ Pro 37" CRT Monitor on auction from HP. It has a VGA connector on RGB2 which does VGA, S-VGA, and XGA-2 up to 1280 x 1024/75 Hz at 24-bit (16.7M colours) as well as NTSC, SECAM, PAL, M-NTSC formats. It has a slew of other audio/video connectors for high end applications. I check with www.mitsubishi-megaview.com tech support on the VGA connection before I bought it.

Best part, I won the auction at $195 +tax and its from HP which does all their auctions through www.Dovebid.com. I've bought a lot of used servers from them and they check out their equipment they sell through Dovebid before they auction it, unlike some other sites.

I realize that this is humongous for a monitor, but I think it will suit me perfectly for a second monitor/gaming from a distance and watching the "videos" I get off the internet ahahhaha and I know I won't be able to have it right in front of me. I'm jazzed. It makes me [H]ARD.

Thoughts? Opinions? Please speak up freely ;)

Here's where I got it and here are the specs:

Nice size, but horrible res, color depth and refresh rate though.

yeah I don't see the point, if ur just benching who cares about the monitor, get any 17" as long as it's nice on the eyes. I'd still game and use it as my main rig, why waste that power on just benching?

Ok, got this bad boy hooked up and installed yesterday, well almost installed, got it working now just got to lift this heavy monster to that dresser in these pics.

Here they are.

Pics after installation where I was testing some various video clips on it:

P.S. That's my wife's computer its hooked up to right now, a P4 3.0E with a 9600XT All-in-Wonder. You can see the pics of FX-55 on that page by scrolling up. Eventually it will be hooked to that one when I buy a small desk for it that will hold the large, 210 lb. monster.

Overall I'm very pleased. I did have to change all the all the switches on the back of it to 75ohm instead of high like in the pictures, in case anyone else who bought one is reading this, as Xtreme submits to the search engines, I think?

Well, I finally spent 30 minutes with the remote last night and got the screen adjusted out to the edges and straightened up on the sides. In the screen-shots above you can see I hadn't done that yet. Now it looks even better. The screen is now viewable out to the full edge of the plastic side trim.

What can I say, I'm pleased as punch! Excellent Monitor!

I'm gonna get a desk that will sit caddy-corner from me about 6 foot away and use it as a second display. Hahaha - it will be my private HTPC, as I can surf on display one and let mIRC and the videos run on Megaview. This is going to work out great!

I was leary at first getting this monitor. Even though I knew of what it was capable, I hadn't seen one in action. This is just too good for the price. Every once in awhile a person gets a good deal, and this one is mine for awhile.
