Gloves while Welding is always good. I learned a few lessions the hard way in metal shop in HS.
Looks Good, but that pipe is rather long..
tnx, the pipe is 40 cm long (about 15.74 inch)
yeah gloves can protect you against burning but i like brazing without them.
ps: -who woudn't know i do refridgeration @ school.(6th grade)
- the hose is nitrogin to protect the tube, cause hot copper and air makes the copper dark brown and that looks ugly
(used in an refridge-installation to occur moisture)

Very nice, but do you don't use welding glasses?
Good luck with ocing!
it's not realy welding, and with welding glasses i don't see mutch so :p:
we always braze @ school with just glasses( except the one that was holding the hose, he's glasses where broke.) :p:

I know that this is brazing :p:
I'm asking because I like brazing with my oxy/propane torch without glasses more than with this "black glasses". But I don't know if it is very bad for your eyes.
idd me too. but if the flame isn't to light it normaly cant do harm i think.
why would they say @school use glasses and not "welding" glasses if its not safe.
so guess it's not a "big" problem
brazing with dark glasses is realy not easy when you have to do alot of brazing.

i dont think you'll notice a difference in temp with 1000grit over 600. I might be wrong, but I think anything over 600 is useless other than looking good.
tnx for you reply, like youre saying its mutch more for looking good then temps.
the eye want something too doesn't it? :D

What I'm saying is I dont think the temps will increase from a surface lapped with 600grit sandpaper and 1000grit sandpaper.
Bloody_Sorcerer
02-05-2005, 04:32 PM
well, the flatter the surface, the better the contact will be, so the better the thermal transfer will be. Its just that difference would probably be neglible at best.

yep youre right about that.;)
i've got a question for the one who knowes the answer :p:
can plexi hold if the temps around it are -195(ln2 temp)
my plan was to make a container thats compatible with P4 s487, A64, P4 lga775
and make socket kits for each on in plexi

54mm pipe? Looks almost the same as my gpu containers :D
Did you brazed the screws too?
no i didn't braze them, they are melted too because all the silfos :p:
55mm pipe:)
dry ice is ordered, 15 kg on the way.
going to have a very nice day tomorrow
Nazaar
02-08-2005, 03:28 AM
lol 15kg is A LOT.
looking forawrd to the results
yeah when i got him on the phone i asked what can i think about if we order 10kg
he said like a square of 30cm
oke its big but hey i can take some with me and test @ my place with an mx420 that fits the container nicely.
en we have some spare left for fun :D
next time we would now exacly how mutch we need to fill 1 container.
ps: we are going to test, 3000+, fx55 and 2 times x800 so 4 refills.
i'll calculate whats the content of 1 container :)
1 container is 784 cm³
and 10 kg was square 30cm
if my calculations are right 27000 cm³
and 15 kg is about 40500³
i called and he said if you take 10kg=> have to pay extra for transportation.
15kg is tranportation free
and 20% gets lost after 24H
so i think we have enough then :stick:
and again an update of some stuff.
- pics of the board to mount the mobo on
- pics of insulation
- pics of bracket to hold the graficscard, or prevent braking of :p:
2nd
later this day i'll post some pics of total insulation of the containers

Good job so far. Go for the highest 2001 score on the orb. I think you'll break at least 40,000+ with an FX-55 under DI. Anyways, Good Luck, and dont forget to post results.
no i wont ;)
yes there is a chance we hit some records
fx does 3.3 under vapo ls
and his 3500+ does 2.75 little above stock vcore and my 3000+ does that too so.(all stock cooling)
x800pro flashed to xt(voltmodded) does 681/644 wccooled
;)
benchingday was a succes and a non succes.
first, we got it all running for 4 hours straigh benching.
we managed to get 3.5 ghz stable on a fx 55
because my procc fell from 0.5m above groundlevel to 0m some pins where damaged.(concrete floor)
tried to get them all straight but 2 were hit too hard, so broke off.
going to test tomorrow if it maybe would work because i heared that some pins are there for no use.
x800 container was not optimal, his ass was to big so proper installation and insulation was not easy.
we got it running and core was -33 but we couldn't get it stable @ every setting and voltage.
going to update tomorrow when i got some sleep because 4-5 h of sitting outside and tonight(this morning :p: ) 6h of sleep is devestating.
pics will come, when i can release them
don't ask why or... just wait and see
ps: if you put dry ice in a bottle and close it it saids BOOOOOOM.
i'll post the movie with the pics
for info we got 15 kg of dry ice and after 5h straight with the last hour 2 containers we got 9+ kg spare
try to put a electric wire into the socket with the missing pins, it works ( richyb did it )

Good luck on getting the problems sorted out and going higher! :toast:

fx is an amd 64 too.
its my procc that fell off.
look @ sig
have GOOOOOD news.
mobo was not dead and cpu neather.
so i've got 2 msi k8n neo2
an 3000+ and a new 3200+
3000+ with 2 missing legs still clockes excelent
3200+ is not that good 2.6 max on air
but almost no hardware-loss after all :toast:

nice work, now let's rock
i also will present my new dry ice container until the end of next week
Hi,
Your container is toooo big, you planned to make it run a long, ha?
My DI container was a cylinder at 42 mm Diameter and 2 mm wall thickness, and 400 mm height, holds a burning 3.6 prescott around 1/2 hours.
Reflect this capacity to yours, I hope that it will go for 1,5-2 hours without any feeding. :slobber:

anyone? :stick:
if you read the topic you will see that my container is EXACT 400mm
and its 50mm diameter and thikness is about 2mm too
so your saying your container is too big too
1st=> i think no container is too big
the bigger the container the bigger the pressure on the bottem and better results as result
2nd => DI run is already done, posted some posts above.
Pics will be here @ time.

yes you are right, then only the diameter is %25 bigger, thats ok.
So you reach max 1 hour for fx55?
we didn't mesure it. because we didn't have an temp probe for such temps we kept
the container always almost full of dry ice.

VERY nicely done :) I just got 50cm of 50mm tubing (2 inch) and i'm now looking around for a place that can sell me some 3 inch tubing.
I'm going to put the 3 inch stuff over the 2 inch, so it's double walled, and i'm going to put a seal on the top, put a valve on the outside piece of tubing, and solder it all together. Will take a while to do since I don't think i'm gonna be able to find the 3 inch tubing for cheap in a hurry (everyone wants to sell me nice long pieces and doesn't want to cut what they've got) but there will hopefully be a video when i've finished it all.
Again, nicely done :) You said the 5th of may then mentioned the 5th of april, but which one is it? :)

wow, that looks real nice. You should try to make a container for your ram. There's a thread in the 3d mark team where someone did 290 on Bh5 2-2-2-5. Only AMD?
nope,
amd64, Amd socketA, P lga 775, P S487
family picture?
http://users.telenet.be/jortcollijn/project%20dry%20ice/chhheeeezzzee.JPG
the far right one was a beta container, check it at my other thread of my gfx:)
tomorrow the last day of working on containers i'll make another one with elbow design
and one for between sli cards. and maybe i'll fix that beta-container so i'll have 3 more and 10 containers ready.

What's do you use between container and hold down?
nothing i presume since the holddown is made of nylon (if i remember correctly). Nylon doesn't conduct heat.
its ertalite, a non conductive plastic. only a little.
its used for cuttingboards at food industry or just local restaurant:)
Thanks Jort, I think I gonna destroy my cuttboard now :D

there like ...... 4 months late, i am not complaining:D
i think it was about 50€ for 36
And how long did the 36l last? :)
we actualy didn't bench with it for a long time.
because the cpu had massive coldbug below -50 and fx-55 wasn't available.
i tell you one thing, it lasts long enough for a good bench:)
Yeap, I know, but I was wondering what would be cheaper, Dice or Ln2...
dice because it last longer, on the other side ln² because you get more mhz and maybe a WR.
you know how many people need to pay to get a WR(system, cooling etc...)
Yea, that's. But actually I don't see it so much expensive... :D

I've tried that, and well, I can even get it for free... The problem is that they are pretty huge blocks, kind of cubes of a 200mm side...
So I'd have had to make'em smaller... :nono:
just hammer them to pieces and your fine, its a little more hassle but for free i won't doubt at ALL

Yeaa... actually you're right, but dunno if the performance will be the same. What do you think?
Aside from that, I heard somewhere that it's not really safe to hammer a big block of dice...
why shouldn't it be safe? just use gloves.
dry ice is dry ice, its just easier work with pellets.
just hammer them small enough and you will be fine.
