If you for sure want to stay intel I would get the Abit IT7Max and some corsair PC3500 or the new kingston pc3500. One 512mb dimm should be adequate.

However, I would really recommend looking at the AXP 2400+ and one of the NF2 boards. Look to oc to about 2300mhz aircooled and use some slightly cheaper but still very high quality Corsair PC3000 or 3200.

either way you will have a nice fast computer.

PS if you go Intel plan on oc'ing it b/c at default it's a dog. I have the combo I listed and until the fsb gets past 150mhz I don't like the feel of it. After about 160mhz fsb it really picks up though.

I would also really consider getting an OEM cpu, and preferably waiting about a month or so b/c your chance at getting a C1 stepping would be alot higher then. I have gotten 2 2.4B's in the past 2-3 weeks and neither would do 3ghz aircooled with alpha HSF. and btw the stock cooler sux nomatter what anyone says. Really, I think the 1.8A offers about 95% of the overclockability of the 2.4B and is about $40 cheaper. But then again you always have that extra 600mhz for sure with the 2.4B so thats a hard call to make with the 1.8A. But one reason to go with the 1.8A is there are some crazy and I mean crazy 1.8A C1 stepping OEM chips floating about. Like 3.3-3.5ghz aircooled.
I would so love to have one of those cpus, but I can't locate a C1 stepping and I have the most crappy luck with oc'ing P4's. I really like my 2400+ at 2322mhz aircooled. I think it's everbit as fast as my P4 2.4B@2.9ghz. But to each their own. good luck with your new rig.

Also, I got my Abit IT7Max at newegg.com in the refurb section and saved a TON, but the warranty is only 15 days or so.
