Those are only the ones I dug up for this topic, but ive seen them all over the place. Even lower end cards like 6800GTs are always $500+ from asus, ive seen multiple $400 6800 non ultras, and keep in mind that Zipzoomfly and Monarch tend to have excellent prices, way better than newegg. Its hilarious to see an Evga 6800 Ultra PCIE for $599, and then right below it an Asus one for $849.

What are they smoking?

no idea.. but its certainly the reason why i wont be getting one of the high end asus cards
