Hes probably using a layer of colour above the original images to get the colours he wants out of them. Or hes adjusted them from the edit menu in photoshop. If you have questions on specific techniques just let me know and I'll help you out ;)
That offer is extended to others interested as well.

Hes probably using a layer of colour above the original images to get the colours he wants out of them. Or hes adjusted them from the edit menu in photoshop. If you have questions on specific techniques just let me know and I'll help you out ;) ( Also where it says OR it can also read and) . Just so you know you can add as many color layers you like to achieve your goal.
That offer is extended to others interested as well.
Multi color sigs are much more complicated than just adding a layer of color but the easiest way to add color to your document would be to go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance OR Layer > New Adjustment Layer >Hue/Saturation OR Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color for a little more control of individual colors in you document. You can also go to Image > Adjustments > Photo Filter OR Image > Adjustments > Color Balance. There are quite a few more but that would be the easiest way to add color to anything you want. You can make your background add an image, then desaturate the image then add your color but again there are so many ways to add color I just gave you the very basics. But I would say the easiest out of them all would be to add a layer above all of the other layers then fill it with any color you want Edit > fill, then make sure that the layer you just filled is highlighted in the layers palette then change the mode from Normal to Hue or Color. Don’t be afraid to play around with it and most importantly… have fun. :D (Where it says OR it can also read as AND) Just so you know you can add as many color layers as you like to achieve your goal.

hey baldy hope you dont mind if i also add something in your thread
Absolutely not, I encourage all to post sigs so we can all share ideas, renders and ultimately improve by helping one another. But hey, that’s just me. :p:

Pretty nice sig you got there. That would be great, the more the merrier. It will give us all a chance to explore our creative side and also get ideas from other members. Not to mention we get to help each other out in the process.

I can’t wait to see some new sigs

That's  . Put a 1 pix black stroke around the sig. Go to edit>stroke> then use these settings: width: 1 px, color: black (000000) leave everything else at default settings>click OK. You are done, that will give you a border aroung you sig. :D Also when you use more than one image use your lasso tool with a feather of about 10 to 20, that should blend your images nicely.

That's pretty cool although the themes seem to clash. I think It would look a lot better if it were smaller. Good Job

Also when you cut something out of an image or render an image use the blur tool to smooth out whatever you cut out. That will get rid of the jagginess/pixelation. :D

thanks baldy,

Actually your idea sounds great. What I though we can do is have quite a few people involved in making a sig or wallpaper whatever you all decide. One person can do the bg the other can do the coloring and another can do the text and so on. When the person is finished doing their part they just pass it right along to the next person in line. It will be interesting to see what the final result will be, that is if enough people are interested.

Here are a few renders to get your imagination going. Don’t forget to post what you come up with.:p:

Yes save the files as a .psd. If you flatten the layes it will be just one image and no one will be able to move the layers once its flattened.

BALDY - definitely when you can, do that sig tutorial and post it in the new XS Reviews/Guides section, and I can add a front page news as well if you like.

Sure you can save your work including the layer.
What we are facing here is a problem in size.

I just did a quick test with one of baldys hl2 guys.
Original size is 212KB...so i put a simple structure layer over it
and saved with layers.
Size after that was:

pdf - 1,9 mb
psd - 2,1 mb

.......

FallenAngel
02-02-2005, 02:28 AM
did u try in TIFF with layers as follows

Image compression : JPEG 10
Byte Order : IBM PC or Macintosh (wichever you prefer or need)
Layer Compression : ZIP
and do not select the case "Discard layers ..."

In photoshop CS or v7 works, for other versions I'm not sure

thomas66
02-02-2005, 02:59 AM
fallenangel

you are right i forgott tif this should need less space.. but still will at least
double the size comparred to no layers..but should be workable. :D

EDIT : my idea would be that we create a Banner together which possibly can be posted on the top right corner on this forum ( on the right side of XtremeSystems) the banner should include of cause something with xs -
nice backround some flashy animated stuff etc. whatever... what do you think? Or we make a complete flash intro for the front page.

FallenAngel
02-02-2005, 04:45 AM
I prefer flash, we could put as a backgr pics of a iced gfx card or mb card something that describes best this great forum, I saw some nice pics done when the competition logo was made, what I think as good is putting the current xtremesystems.org logo in this forum 'cos the actual one (http://homepage.internet.lu/mercadhyr/XS_threads/xslogo.gif) sucks, I never liked it (sorry for the creator, don't take me perso) I'm talking about putting the 'sky' logo in this boards, he did a real nice job, as soon as I can I will try to put here some background pics I found in the first logo compet thread

FallenAngel
02-02-2005, 06:10 AM
What I would like to see as background :

Just found the link I was talking about, lilgator did this one :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=589525#post589525

and nazaar this one :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=588426#post588426

and mine here :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=603725#post603725

but concerning what would be inside the banner as a flash I have no ideas for the moment. We could put our motto or as 'trans am' said the sig of 'conrad' I think is the best idea of overclocking I ever saw

BALDY
02-03-2005, 09:39 AM
Whoa, I didn’t think it would generate this much interest but I’m glad it did :D. Yes you can save it as a .psd file but only to pass it along to those who are interested in participating in the sig, banner or background collaboration. Once it is finished only then can we save the image in any format we like.

I will write a tutorial as soon as I can get around to it.

I just got my modded hardware back from :up:HellFire  :YIPPIE: :bows: so I have to get my watercooling system back up and running check for leaks, play around with the timings, benchmark and so on… you know, what we like to do best. I’ll be checking back every once and a while but I’m basically useless until my system is up and running.

Your sig is clear enough, sometimes blur is more great than clear, it all depends what you like and what you want to show.
