Hi,

I've been lurking in this awesome overclocking site for a while now. Trying to gain knowledge from everyone experiences.

Now I wanted to know if I can get some recommendations on some memory.

The main memory focus in the forums lately has been on 2x512. I would love to get 2x512, but I am restricted by cash flow.

So I have to settle for some 2x256, that are currently being made and can be ordered from like NewEgg.

Now I am currently running an Abit AS8 w/ an Intel 2.8e (Can do 250 on AIR.)

I want to get memory that will kick butt on an Intel setup, and if I decide to upgrade to A64, I can use the same ram.

Ideallly I want 2-2-2 @ 250~260. My mobo vdimm maxes out at 3.2.

So far, the only 2x256 I know are gskill 2x256 LA, and TwinMos.

Are there any other options out there? Are there any other manufactures that make 2x256 TCCD or UTT?

Any insight woudl greatly be appreciated.

It will take a very lucky set of sticks for you to hit 250MHz to 260MHz with 2-2-2 timings on TCCD memory. Your best bet would be BH-5 and the TwinMos stuff everyone is ranting and raving about. But then again, it's still all about luck. ;)

Conrad,

Thanks for the reply.

So is TwinMos the only manf. that makes 2x256 UTT? Are there any other.

I did a search at NewEgg, mWave, and ZZF and had no luck for the TwinMos Speed Premium and had not luck. Where are people getting them in the US?

They're probably just out of stock at the moment. Check out the sticky at the very top of this section: Xtreme Twinmos Memory.

Well...OCZ uses winbound UTT chips but will charge about twice the cost of the twinmos.

Do they come in 256mb sticks? All I've seen in the US is the 2x 512mb kits :(

I don't believe they make 256mb kits but I was just going on his, "who else uses utt question."

Although I do believe in that xtreme twinmos thread there are some reports of kingston value ram and ocz value ram using utt chips.

BH-5 is still the King of Intel for me at least. U just have to make sure you have alot of volts going through. TCCD arent good for Intel. VX mite be good, but I haven't tried it.
