To my surprise the fedex man brought my present a day early! newegg rocks :banana4:

Anyway I got my gig of le and slapped it in my neo2 and set timings at 2.5-3-3-7 1t command rate and immediately booted at 10x255 without a hiccup!

Benched in aquamark and got 71,835. I haven't even pushed my newcastle pass this but I know it can do it.

Before with my pc3700eb I could not boot at 10x250 at all and I could only run fsb of 230 x11 with horrible timings 3-3-3-10 2t command rate. The eb wouldn't even do a 1t command rate at those timings. I was only giving it 2.85 vdimm though and that could have been a problem.

I currently am running 1.6vcore on a tdx waterblock so I have headroom to increase voltage quite a bit.

What is the safe voltage for a newcastle core? I see so many people getting these perocs to 2.8ghz on air that it makes me sick. My chip is 0426 and I hope these are pretty good for ocing. She will run 2.55ghz stable as a rock but with this new ram I want to hit 2.75ghz with a 10x275 with this gskill for a sweet arse oc. I have the vdimm set at 2.7. I know the ram will will do this but I am gonna have to raise my vcore to get the cpu stable.

Any comments would be great.

Frickin' gskill rocks :banana4: I am glad I went with it instead of the ocz vx and it whips the pants off that ocz eb :toast:

i think newegg give their shippers an extra day when they tell you when stuff will be delivered. i've heard "omg it got shipped a day early!", and... mine stuff from newegg got shipped a day early as well. ;)

reguarding the ram... well... i got twinmoss based off winbond UTT, but TCCD is ofcourse still awesome stuff. good luck with it, and try for 9x300. ;)

What timings and voltage do you think I will have to have the le at to hit 300fsb given that my proc will do 2.7ghz?

TCCD doesn't like to much voltage.
They seem to work best at 2.7V.

Best way to try is to lower the multiplier and start with 275, 2.5-3-3-7, 1T, and all the way up. Memtest is the best way to see if your memory and memory controller can handle it.

Try 2.65V (if your BIOS allows, if not 2.7V) and 275 2.5-3-3-7 1T. Drop the multi to 8 or 9 for testing until you see how far you can push it. Don't stop at 255 though... go go go.

not sure... check around other threads that other people have made about their own gskill sticks. ;)

what is the highest fsb you can go with 1T?
the specifikations say it should do ddr 550 at 2,5-3-3-7 (LE)
can you test please if your gskill can do ddr 600 at 2,5-4-4-8 2T (like the LA)

i canĀ“t decide between the 1gb LE or 1gb LA
but tomorrow i have to make my choice
please help me to make my decission easier

2.5-3-3-7 1T at 275 will definitely be better than 2.5-4-4-8 2T at 300. If that's what you're going off of, definitely go for the LE... especially if you are using 1Gb.

:D G.Skill rocks, mine are the 4800 LA but they're only good for 2,5-x-x-x above 300 MHz.

275 You can do better with the good old BH-5 at 2-2-2-5, here're my CORSAIR in action:

What is the safe vcore for a newcastle with excellent watercooling?

I will try to push this ram as far as I can and let everyone know what is does. I just don't want to fry my proc in the process.

:D Hey dude - only watch Your temperatures, if they're O.K. it doesen't matter if You give 1,7 or 1,8 Vcore...........

Don't worry about Your CPU - if You're on water Your chip will max out by lack of cooling but it will not die caused by the Vcore - You'll see when coming to the point where an increase of Vcore doesn't bring more performance.

Just leave the vcore where it is... if it can handle 2.7, just ride that limit out for now and work on how high you can push the FSB. Worry about the total proc speed after you figure out the max for the mem. No sense in tweaking out your total CPU speed before you know what your mem can handle.

I will lower the multi and push the mem to see how far it will go. I am new to ocing the a64 so you will have to bear with me.

How much of a performance hit do you take when you lower the ht multi so you can up the htt frequency?

Do they have DDR600 1gig kit? anywhere I can look for some in Canada?

ht multi doesn't matter for performance, just make sure you drop it to 3x before you try very high FSBs. At 4x you will be hard pressed to break 260-265FSB. You also want to drop the CPU multi to 8x for FSB testing purposes. You won't leave it there forever, just long enough to figure out your memory's max speed.

You only got 512mb in there though. I don't game with less than a gig in machine and the overclock I max out at I will run 24/7. That is a very nice pi score though :toast: How many volts are running through that ram?

:D You know, 2 x 256 better for benching. Booster not maxed out - did it on "only" 3,9 volts, I can go up to 4,1 with the booster on my NEO2.

Next week we will see how it performs on a DFI NF4 ULTRA.
