I know a shop where i can get 2*256mb of OCZ pc3200 EB with
CL 2.5-3-2-8. Are these modules any good? Better then say their gold VX or something. I'm looking for high performance well overclocking ram.

nope they used to be

stick to TWINMOS SPEED PREMIUM OR som good LA/LE GSKILL.

I think EB´s are still good - Still micron modules ?

Well , my 1x1gb pc3200 EB didnt like overclocking at all. stopped at around 220mhz. A friend needed 3,6Vdimm to reach 236mhz. If you want EB ram go for pc3500 or pc3700.

Wow that is really bad - What timings did you use?

My eb does alot better than my cheap stick of twinmos speed premium.

260mhz 3.3v A64 tweaked timings (can't remember off hand) is some good speed.

Twinmoss SP only did 246mhz 2-2-2-5 with 3.6v anymore and it would die.

Ya if u want the EB, definatly go 3500EB or 3700EB, my 2x512 3200EB maxed out at 230mhz, 3-2-2-11.

Yeah, EB is good, but they speed binned it. The PC3200 modules are the worst of the bunch, and then PC3700 is the best.

People don't give EB enough credit. It's usually capable of 270-280+ with 3.3V and 3-2-2-X timings.

Actually I think its got a great deal to do with luck - My 3700 wouldnt go a day over 250mhz ras-cas 2 and only 10mhz faster at ras-cas 3 no mater voltage :)

Overclocking is luck;)

1 stick of EB tops out at 260mhz the other tops out at 275mhz 3.3vdimm

Hehe not always though - But point taken :)

Anyhow I would go for the EB´s for starters.

my 3500 will do 280mhz 3-2-2-x @ 3.4v
haven't tried single sticks yet.

Go for some samsung tccd. My OCZ plat rev2 does 300mhz 2,5-4-3-3-7 1T one stick. Seems like most people can get around 270mhz+. Or some pre-rated Gskill. Cant go wrong with those ;)

I have a gig of ocz pc3700eb that I am not using anymore because my neo2 board don't like it very much. I switched to a gig of gskill le. I was going to save the eb for an intel machine where timings really don't matter but if I can get a good price I will sell it. I do not think they even make pc3700eb anymore either.

I paid $330 for it.

I will sell it for $300 and if I can't get that I will just keep it.

Thanks for all the reactions, then EB it won't be. My current mem sometimes gives errors at 250mhz 3-4-4-10 so thats not good... I just received my new PSU (OCZ powerstream 600W) and I'm going to install it now (if it fits) and try some overclocking. After upgrading to a 6800GT from a Radeon 9800pro my system didn't overclock at all when stabibility is considered an issue (which it is). My Xaser butterfly 480W only gave 11.4 V on 12V rail according to Corecenter so we'll see what happens in the next hour. I'll be back later to tell how it went (if all goes well).

Well, the new PSU is installed more or less. The thing is so long that its sticking out of my case because my radiator (a Black Ice extreme II) is screwed to the top of my case on the inside. As for overclocking, I'm running at 10*210 2.5-3-3-10 -1T now. I tried 10*250 and 10*260 (at timings and voltages I know the mem will support) but that didn't work, computer hangs before it gets to bios screen. Now here's the catch, I was able to get to 2.6ghz a few months ago but now even 2550 is to much to ask... Why? Max voltage I ever did was 1.55+18% (all max Vcore on MSI K8N NEO2).

More tests will be conducted and I'll be back.

Runnin at 11*230 (2.5-3-3-4-10-1T) now =2.53ghz. Other changes are... My temps are 8C lower I don't know how this can be explained but both corecenter (which i updated and is therefore not a valid benchmark) and PC Wizard 2004 give me temps idle at 32C where it was 41C an hour ago in the same room and roomtemps, same cooling etc just the other PSU. And more voltage running through the CPU as an extra...?!?!? Current Vcore is 1.65V. Running Flaskmpeg with 99-100% cpu usage for a short period makes temps rise to 47-48C which is the max i think because running for 15min or 2hours does,'t make temps rise in my system (i think its the water that takes forever to heat up). Also ran my videocard through one bech of 3dmark03 at 400/1100 which seemed fine (GPU was 65C and videomem 37C) at 2300mhz cpu i got a lowly 10600 points (i got more with lower speeds but there to much background clutter running on my machine)

I get a variation of +2000 points when I enable fastwrites in my bios when I bench on aquamark. Benchies will vary on so many things that is is hard to nail down just how good your machine really will run them if nor for all the other junk you have on it. Different drivers and bios settings all produce different results.
