Both are 2x512MB and both are within $10 of each other. I'm tempted just to get both and sell the worser of the too...but if I can afford that with some good advice I will. I'd like to hit 270 2-2-2-5...I have 3.6volts at my disposal. Which is more likely to do this?

270 is a posible results with both your choice, but dont EXPECT to hit 270 with any of them. you need to have a little luck to get some mushkin lvl2 bh-5 that will do that on 3.6v. i´m sure most of them do, but some have bin having probs with finding the right set of bh-5:) The VX i will bet you can get to 250-260...if you have the luck, and some good moduls....270

I dont know if you are planning to run them in single or dual channel (i dont see you specs) but in single you will have a good chance of reaching the 270...in DC...hmm.....you could be lucky and get some nice moduls:)

Enjoy,
Very stable 270 5-2-2-2.0 sounds like a lot to ask for from 2x512MB kit.... I have set of VX that is/was doing very stable (Memtest and Prime95) 260x10 6-2-2-2.0-1T @ ~3.6v. I don't think that there's anyone that has DDR540 "fully-stable" with set of VX @ dual channel configuration.

On the other hand, 2x512MB of BH-5 is rarely doing DDR520 speeds...

I had two sets of 2x512MB ram I recently sold. One was KHX 3500 BH5, the other was Corsair Value 1.1 BH6. Both did 265 with 3.6volts in my dfi nforce 3 with two sticks. :) So I'm just trying to top that.

IF you're lucky with the BH-5 , then with the 3.6Vdimm you'll get what you want.....Don't know about the VX ones - haven't tested any of them yet.....

P.S. VX's are based on a BETTER PCB than the Mushkin's .....MORE "sealed" and newer...... ;)

Well the Mushkin ended up being $225, and the VX was $250...so I went with the Mushkin. We'll just have to wait and see if I made the right choice now. Thanks guys.

Mushkin insists on using one of the crappiest PCBs out there, their sticks always clock a few MHz lower compared to any othet BH5 chip. Their forum representitives have stated that they do not want to use brainpower PCBs.

+ $10 for shipping... I got free shipping with the Mushkin. :/

I would buy Vx, they do better with 2x512 in dual channel (if you have P4 i 'd go for the BH-5 :P)

go with the vx, bh5 mostly sucks in 2*512

I know of two guys running 2x512 BH5 (KHX3000 & PC3500 Level2) and both of them can bench at 270 with 3.5v-3.6v...
To be honest I think the whole "BH5 and 2x512 is so much worse than VX" came from the old days when CHIPSETS didnt like 2x512... and the old dogs jus aint willing to learn new tricks.
My old NF7 even took 2x512 BH5 to 246 3D stable with only 3.2v so I'm sure you'll do fine with the BH5.

What board are you using?

even with a crappy pcb hte rams still rock.

hope mushkin chango to brain power pcb, those sticks would be so fast.

mushkin bh5 sticks are the best ones, as far as i know, tccd sticks are bad ones couse of the pcb

I agree, all the 2x512MB BH5/BH6 kits I've used have done 265 with 3.5-3.6volts. I got the Mushkin last night as it ended up being $25 cheaper than the VX and every penny counts for me right now. I'll hope to hit 270. :)

Enjoy, do you have any screens/memtest #5 runs of those kits at that speed? I would really love to see that :stick:

Nope and both are sold now. I never took screens because I wanted to get 270 stable and a good strong cpu speed first.

so how stable was that DDR530 6-2-2-2.0-1T then ???
I'm asking because if I had a kit of whatever 2x512MB of BH-5 (I used to have one, PC3500 LvL II) that was doing 265x10 @ 6-2-2.0-1T "as-stable-as-it-comes" then I would NEVER sell it :)

The KHX 3500 BH5 did 265 with 3.6volts, tightest tightings possible...all tweaked...50 loops of test #5. However at any multi above 8 it would need to be dropped to 260. The Corsair Valueram 1.1 BH6 did 265 with 3.5 volts. It couldn't run timings quite as tight as the KHX (didn't like cas 1.5)...and at higher multipliers it needed 3.6volts to keep 265 mhz. Both passed 50 loops of test #5. Sold them for a profit, got them both very cheap...and then got some Centon TCCD. But I've realized I really don't like the whole TCCD thing with slacker timings and higher MHz. I perefer tight timings and high MHz. ;)

Mushkin, good choice. I'm not going to say VX is bad, but it didn't work for me.

Where did you get the BH-5? $225 for that stuff sounds like a great price

If you see a gig set of BH5 on anand, you can usually grab it for around that price. People can't sell BH5/BH6 for :banana::banana::banana:loads of money anymore these days.
