Which athlon64 chip is showing the best when it comes to high htt - ie that has a good memory controller.

My NC 3500 will bench at 276HTT (abit av8) when it is the only thing being stressed, but do an all or nothing benchmark run and the best is a very unstable 255-260

the winchesters come with improved controller and 90nm process, so if i had to change my cpu , it would be to the winchester core.

Winchesters don't always like to run high RAM freq it seems.

If your just looking for a higher HT than a different chipset maybe better. That VIA chipset isn't known to soar through the roof when it comes to HT. An NF4 might be a better upgrade if your looking for higher HT

Only prob with the nf4 is that I have yet to see any AGP support - not about to get rid of x800xt or 6800u (have both). Been thinking of getting Neo2 - seems to be the 939 overclockng board of choice and has so many tweaks etc. Hardly anyone seems to use the Abit AV8 - very hard to find tweaking info on it.

winchesters seem to have (at this point) very weak mem controllers, but soon should be a new revision, where this is one of the priorities.

if you can get an fx-55 then go for it... most of us can't afford processors like that :P

to change the thread slightly - would I see more success with the Neo2 or Asus boards rather than the (bug riden to some) AV8 ?

yeah, you'd see better results with a NEO2...as long as its a fairly good one. There are those that seem to be worse than others...
