Hey,
Im completely new to water cooling, but as my year12 project in school im allowed to build a water cooling system for my whole PC! (awesome huh  ) .... now in this i will be cooling my gfx card (Ti.4600 for the moment), CPU, Mobo, and HDD! I will be building all the water blocks myself, but i need some recommendations on Pumps,Resevoirs, and Radiators?????

Im not looking for the lowest temps in the world, but part of the project is to compare temps before and after, along with overclocking results (....:D im so happy my teacher said i could do this)

I will also be building a front panel with an LCD, showing 4 temp sensors.

Thanks

IMO this would be the most efficient setup @ this point in time :)

CPU Block: Cathar's "White Water"
GPU Block: Swiftech MCW50
Pump: Via Aqua 1300
Radiator: 87 Chevy Chevette Heatercore
Tubing: 1/2"ID x 3/4"OD Tygon
Fans: You choose....there are so many out there @ different performance/sound levels..I'd just make sure I run (2) 120MM's in push-pull on the heatercore w/ some sort of home-made shrouds :)

If you need any links, LMK :D

Not sure. Cathar's block can be aquired by emailing him...he's from AUS. I'd check www.swiftnets.com for UK swiftech resailers. The heatercore might be a tuffy, not sure if u can get a chevette core over there @ an auto parts store....tygon & pump can be found at www.dtekcustoms.com :)

Good luck :D

I think the Black Ice rad's are overpriced....but whatever floats your boat ;)
I don't think you can beat a heatercore for performace:price ratio.
The res/pump look fine. The only reason I don't run an Eheim is because of the price :)

phew, i thought it was normal for those sort of prices. Oh well, there goes my new monitor :(! Gonna be wkd fun tho designing/building all those waterblocks!

But i just found something SOOO annoying:mad: ....the GeforceFX has a load of capacitors on the corner between the two lines of RAM chips, which kinda screws up my design .... damn it, gonna have to re-design i guess.

get the radiator from d-tek. i have one and i'm very happy with it's perfomance. the BIs are overpriced as mentioned. buying overseas is cheaper since you wont have to pay vat.

I've been researching hte best stuff to use and cant really agree with the above, though this is just MY opinion.

for the water block I'd see if you can get your hands on a silverprop or maybe a swiftech MCX-462UH (I'm not familier with the white water, could someone give me a place to get more info on that)

the radiator is pretty simple... go to an autoparts store, ask them to shoe you a few heater cores for cars.... opel is a good one to look for, find one that is not too expensive and is a good size.

for the resivour, dont spend money like that..... go to a hardware store, pickup an all weather electrical box... little things are great and keep all the water in... the also double as screw boxes for case screws.... but dont keep the screws in when you use the box as a res :)

for a pump.... dunno if you can find it in UK.... was hard to find in the US! but try and find a magdrive pump... going to find a link to the US page to give you an idea of exactly what I mean.... but they put out a lot more water than via and ehiem for about 1/2 the cost.

also, the new swiftech pump is great, same design as the one I'm talking about but a lil more expensive.... and less flow rate.

if you can not find a heater core then the swiftech one is a good fall back.... for a maintream company you cant go TOO wring with swiftech.... expensive, but great gear.

Here is a link for heater cores to check them out.
http://www.heatercore4u.com/Make.htm

Here is the Chevette one alot of people use:http://www.heatercore4u.com/2-261.htm

I use the Ford torino (W A/C 1971 . . . . 2-224) basic the same only 2-5/8 connectors.
http://www.heatercore4u.com/2-224.htm
I had 2-1/2" barbs solder into mine at rad shop. Total price 30.00 with barbs installed.
Find you a local rad shop an check price, alot cheaper than ordering.

The GeForceFX probably isn't going to be around until February. I've seen a few places say it might be available in limited quantities before the end of the year, but most places are saying February for the real launch. That might be just fine with you, I dunno, just passing it along. ;)
