Havent heard of anyone trying it and it not working tbh, think ATI would be letting people know if it did work, it would only benefit them

can anyone tell me the diff in the two boards? they both have sli right? i thought the diff was that one had sli and one didnt? sorry for the noobish question guys but im confused on this one. i have read the specs on both boards and i see both have 2-16x pci slots??

perc one is a nf4 ultra which only supports sli if you modify the chipset slightly (see anands article) it used to work when nothing had been done but nvidia changed that in its latest drivers. the other difference is one is a lanparty ut which doesnt come with all of the extras that the lanparty does

i was just confused because i thought there was the chipset with PCI-E support and the chipset with SLI? i knew about the "fake SLI but thought that was done by just using a 16x and a 2x slot didnt expect DFI to actualy make a board with two 16x slots that DIDNT support SLI!!! so this is actualy good news and DFI once again has hooked us up Phat!!? sorry to high jack this thread its just that ive been reading up on this and so far ive been unable to get the answers to the questions i have. what youve told me helps out alot....

thx perc,.

well at first it did support sli in 16x/2x but nvidia changed their drivers so only an ultra chipset with an 8x/8x could do sli. also apparently nf4 ultra and sli chipsets are supposed to have a different board layout and dfi kept their boards the same minus the other features (sil's sata controllers for instance)

Edit: You can still either (A) Use the old drivers (B) Add a registry setting to the new ones (C) Do an easy pencil mod on the chipset. I'm sure the registry tweak would be easily available on the net, if you don't like the other two options.
