Hej.

I just got my Gskill 4800 LA in today from dammed UPS who probably like to play dodgeball with their packages, and found out its Samsing 437 chips that are on it.

I think it was karato who said that PC4800 will be 440..

What difference is there between the chips?

Apart from the fact that it is a different week and branding name, what physical differences are there between the chips?

Indeed, there are 437 and 440 chips on the LA modules.

OPB says 437 are better then the 440. I cannot tell you the difference between those two chips.

What I do know is that they are nice clockers ;)

Mine (2*512 LA) are 0437 too.
Made a quick test on the DFI NF3.
Did 290, 2.5-3-3-7, 1T memtest error free.
Will test some more within the next days.

I think JACK on the GSkill forums said that the 440 like voltage more.

Anyways, if they'r at least as good as the 440 i'm ok with that. One thing that bugs me though is that while the modules are rated at DDR600 3-4-4-8, the packaging says 2,5-4-4-8.

Don't worry about that. As long as they work as they're rated, it should be fine.

Good to know they're good chips ;)

Karoroto said it didn't matter, but just for a second opinion, do you think this scarf matters?

i got 437 in my 512MB Le's. they go really strong to 310HTT at 2.5-4-4-10, maybe 2.5-3-3-10 didn't try that. but then they hit a wall at 310. even super laxed timings won't get me past 310. tried cas3 and everything way backed off. i think my memory controller just can't keep up. Hopefully my upcoming winnie and DFI nf4 will be able to do better.

for some reason when i use a low multi on everest and sandra, it gives me a ridiculous bandwidth.
6187MB/s on socket 754, i wish!

then you have very powerfull 431! its one of the older revisions but even old ones can go like hell. mine do 310MHz --> PC4400 1GB LE!

Skip have tried to mess with your HTT multi , I read somewhere that 2.5 was unstable and they used 2x rather then 3x with high HTT.

I hit a wall at 305 with my Corsair , I have not tested lower HTTx, as im playing with BH6 atm
