how can i get the heatspreaders off my rams? i tried pulling off the clips and using a screwdriver to pry it off but the clips seem stuck on.

Why don't you try heating it first then pulling it out? Other than that, I have no other suggestions.

I agree, try using a blow dryer on them for a minute or two and then prying off the heatspreader, but be very careful, you wouldn't want one of the RAM chips to come off with it. :)

No blow dryer...you'll cook the chip. Just use something that won't crack the chips or hurt the pcb to help you pry it off...mainly just use your fingers. They can be very tough.
Run Memtest86 Test 5 for a while, after that they should be much easier to remove, try it with a clean (old) creditcard or other card...just pry it between the heatspreaders....should do it if you are careful.....

hmm ok ill give it another shot. i really want to know what chips are on these
ive tried heating them and squeezing to get off the clips but i didnt try a credit card
