Im trying to decide what type of ram to get for a water cooled system. The specs are:

Winchester 3500+
MSI Neo2 mobo
2x RAID WD Raptors
PNY 6800 128MB 8x vcard

This system is for game developement, which involves high performance gaming, 3D Modeling, 3D Mapping, and editing large photographs in Photoshop CS. Heres the problem. With Photoshop, more RAM = good, because of the massive files I have to edit. But with gaming... all you really need is 2x512 and your set. When I first walked into this whole thing, before I knew what I was doing, I was hoping that it would be possible to get some good high speed ram and bring the new system to 2GB of RAM. I like the Rev. 2 OCZ 2x512 a lot. It sounds excellent. Recently I found out about the booster and sounds awsome! Problem is my board will only have 4 slots, and I can't bring up my board to 2 gigs of OCZ Rev. 2 and have a booster.... I can either have 1GB and a booster or 2Gb and no booster. To me, that option sucks! Is there a fast, low latency set of 2x1025 sticks out there that you guys can recommend, that would work with the DDR booster on the Neo2 mobo?

The OCZ PC3200 Rev.2 uses TCCD memory chips which doesn't like a lot of voltage, so getting an OCZ DDR Booster would be useless.

Running 2GB will cut performance at stock, (2T command rate with 4x512, or poor timings with 2x1024) let alone overclocking - too much for the memory controller. Stick with 1GB

personally i'd reccomend 4x512 in dual channel, cheaper than 2x1024 and timings aren't that important in photo suites, and you'd barely notice a difference in your games with that card running.

Ok, I guess I'll just get the 4x512 OCZ Rev. 2. Thanks guys! I look forward to posting about the new system when its finished! Im going to start with with one set of twin sticks and add another set when I get the mulah. :)
