whats the best ram i should get for runing @ 300Mhz 3-3-3-10-1T (3-4-4-10-1T will do)

also would DDR600 @ loose timings (3-3-3-10-1T)
be faster than DDR500 @ tight timings (2-2-2-10-1T)

Thanks

G.Skill PC4800 LA

Awesome TCCD, runs DDR600 at stock speeds. :)

would it be faster than OCZ VX @ 500 2-2-2-10-1T

I think so in terms of overall bandwidth. There may be some tests/games that would prefer the lower latencies of the VX though.

damm not sure on what to do get

what do you recommend for a gaming system

You might consider some OCZ PC4200EL Platinum. They are supposed to run 300FSB+ especially on AMD's. they are TCCD chips. OCZ hand tested mine at 290FSB 2.5-3-3-8 Dual channel and this in on Intel, unfortunately my mobo only runs up to 278-280FSB. :(

Do a search, there is a thread about this memory.

A gig of gskills would probly be best for gaming. It will allow you to do 400 @ 2,2,2,5 and up to 300+at 3,3,3,8. Some will even do 300 @ 2.5,4,4,8. TCCD gives you more options to play with, especially if you dont have the voltage for winbonds.

G.Skill 4800LA no doubt... getting a gig of these myself.
Also, with VX you must have a DDRBooster/Vmod or else they suck.

just found out the G.Skill PC4800 only does 300Mhz @ 2T

pretty worthless IMO :(

No No No....maybe on Intel or Athlon XP....but certainly not Athlon 64. And even then, I'm sure it's only to cover their asses for the odd time someone can't run 1T with 'em.

From what I've been reading Centon is great memory. 2x256MB Centon with the Brainpower 808 PCB at 300 Mhz at 2.5-4-4-8

I think the top three are:
1. Centon C2x512PC3200LL
2. Adata PC4800 Vitesta
3. G.Skill Extreme PC4800-F1-3200DSU2

Centon was the only one I've read about that can do 300 in dual

LOL, I wish I had a clue what you guys were talking about...... 300Mhz... 1T... 2T... I don't even know how to find out what Mhz the system Im building will be....

vx vs tccd

i find you need about 25-30 mhz to get equivalent bandwidth with 2-2-2 vs. 2.5-3-3 timings. in other words vx @ 250 with 2-2-2-10 is approximately equal to tccd @ 275 with 2.5-3-3-10

g-skill 2x512 LA's only do 300mHz/DDR600 at 2t. g-skill rep opb recommends g-skill LE's for the 2x512.

That's right. For 1G kit, get the LE but for 512MB kit, LA is rated for DDR600 3-4-4-8 1T but mine can do that speed at 2.5-3-3-7 here:

Why LE for the 1GB kit and LA for the 512?

I have a 1GB LA kit, is the LE better :?

MaxxxRacer

The LA does better timmings and higher mhz but u suffer performance loss in games and every day usage due to reduced ram. But its great for benching. OPB can attest to that. its pretty much the ultimate benching ram.

I meant as in:

2x512mb LA vs. 2x512mb LE :)

MaxxxRacer

ahh ic... not sure on that one. I think opb said that the 512mb LE is better, but dont quote me on that.
