hi i currently am using 2 sticks of pc 133 128 mb each, i added a new stick today and my bandwidth efficiency went from 91% to 81% after foolin' around with which stick goes where i got it upto 88% and bios has no ram timing adjustments...what do i do?

use all matching ram, if you buy stuff with good spd (timing on ram) you should get back the lost %

they are matching, but one is double sided, and the other one is single sided, the single sided perfoms better..is this usual?

No, only NF2 boards have problems with double sided ram. However, when you use more than 2 sticks especially when the sticks have different quantities you are most likely going to loose some bandwidth. Also, your double sided ram is probably the 256mb stick, right? Well, the manufacturer may have increased the latency on the 256mb sticks. This is sometimes done when creating sticks with larger amounts of ram on them, because as you put more quantity on one pcb it makes it harder to get good yields on the ram.

uhhhh
yea... NF2 uses pc133 ram ....

I just meant that it was the only chipset that has a major problem with double sided ram.

maybe cuz the chipset has more banks to access. i wouldnt worry.

yeah, but its fun to mess around with stuff like that. Don't have a Pentium 3 or 4...went up to a Mendocrine Celeron then went to the AMD side.

yeah, 512mb shouldn't cause too much trouble...The max I can make my computer with the i810 chipset take is 192mb tho...might have something to do with the fact that I'm using two sticks...one is PC133 and the other is PC66 lol

"Mendocrine Celeron " sorry, forgot celerons used to use pc 66 (pc 100 for every thing above 800...i think?)

nope the PC66 ain't used in the Celeron rig, its used on the Pentium 2 rig I've got. Its got 1x 128mb and 2x32mb sticks. The Celeron rig has 1x 128mb PC133or PC100 and 1x 64mb PC100 or PC133...One is PC133 and the other is PC100...just what order I have no idea.

PC66...I got it at "Gateway Country Store" I paid like 60 bucks for it when I could have gotten PC133 for dirt cheap. lol PC66 2-2-2 o'yeah :D

lol sorry i mis-typed that stuff, i meant 66 and 100 mhz fsb...my mistake...i'm glad you got rid of that p II lol well my rig costed me like 280$ (had to upgrade 866 to 1000 mhz, 58$ computer itself was about 185$ or so, and my 256 costs 37$)
