People only rave about VX because of its ability to get near BH-5 results with 2x512MB modules.

However, after seeing your pics, you deserve a :toast:. Nice work, man.

nice clocks...
got anything else than just CPU-Z and Sandra ??? have you run both sticks?

also, people rave about VX for very important reason: ability to get STABLE speeds of DDR480-520 with - stay focused - 2x512MB with 6-2-2-2.0 1T timmings.

still, nice going there....

spi and everst are also down there => link

what should i bench? maybe i ll do it next time because i have a machII here but i m moving in my own flat in vienna, and i got 3700+ with 280x10 1:1 @ 2,8 ghz with this ram and that timings for spi :D

I'd say this is the most important reason. ;)

but still not enough time to checkt that out

Very nice :toast:
How many volts did you give that memory?

Like others have said though... 2x512MB is another story.
I HAVE seen guys running 2x512 BH5 at 260 100% stable so it's not impossible... but VX (eg, Winbond UTT chips) seem to be doing the same 2x512 speeds with less vDimm than most BH5 needs.

01-12-2005, 01:59 PM
until 270 i ran 3,5-3,6V and for 270+ with 3,8-3,85 more i cant get with this board here maybe a mod on the board would help and some OVP Nonprotection Bios or something :D

I think I need 10x272 or 10x273 to get 31s... as soon as I can feed these 3.5v+ hopefully my CPU will let me run that speed :)

My CD is at home and I dont have the internet at home yet... I am at work right now too so I can't send it sorry. But, see if the DFI home site has it for download. Sorry dude.

ok no problem i didnt use such progs for showing voltage and C for 1-2 months dont need them anymore... :D know how amd64 works got 3 one here :)

but still very nice i tried with my watercooling (btw. whats ur cooling?) to hit under 33sec i got this with the bh5 and adatapc4800 but i m moving as i said to vienna so i dont want to do the work to put the mach2 on.... :) still lazy because tomorrow i ll get the key for the flat :D yippieee!

so IHS is also on and the 3700+ does max 2850 as i checked out until yet. maybe i ll hit 2,9 without but i got bad contact with my mach2 without ihs on my 3200+ on the 3000+ its also still on and this does 2750 with the IHS but the 512kb let me feeel it....

Cooling in sig... I have a mobile CPU though so the IHS is already removed.
The fan is quite low speed also... with phase Im pretty sure this badboy would hit 3GHz or very near to it.

Another thing I have heard is that phase change often allows memory to clock higher due to the memory controller being cooled, so you may get higher yet! :D

Good luck with the move, and let us know how the phase change goes when you get round to installing it.

chosen214, kinda interesting to me. I'm pretty much matching you with 270 MHz, but my cpu speed and Tweaker timings are a bit lower than yours. Both of those should have increased your b/w over mine by a decent amount. Are your sticks error free there? Don't take the question wrong, I'm not knocking you or your clocks, just wondering why no difference. I know mine were memtest86+ and SuperPi 32M stable there. Tweaker settings Left column: 2-10-12-2-2-5-2-2-1-2-15.6us/200 Right Column: 16x-128-D-D-7x-6ns-5ns-256 clks-E-200. Dynamic Idle Counter didn't make up the difference here I'm sure.
http://mysite.verizon.net/res6otqr/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/Sandra_8305_8233.jpg

And back on topic, VX really does pretty well against BH-5. At 12x265 my VX are giving me 8138/8072 in Sandra...not that far off for lower clocks even if they won't go higher.

Oh, and I agree, but that is the bench that was posted so that was what I used to compare. But taking Sandra for what it is, I still would have expected some difference is all. 270x10 to 270x11 to 270x12 all shows incremental increases in b/w for me, but I've not played with CL1.5 and it could well be that Sandra doesn't handle/treat it well, I don't know, but that's kinda what I'm wondering.

@ k|ngp|n: Yeah, not suggesting Sandra for stability testing, only pretty pictures. ;) For stability I use a whole battery of testing, memtest86+, win memtest, large SPi runs, and of course, 3d. :toast:
